It is still available. I just lowered the price to $16500.
Feel free to search IH8MUD for my posts, but here are the basics.
I found the truck here in the IH8MUD classifieds back in May. (Thanks @zcruiser!)
Drove it from North Carolina to Denver with 0 issues except an overheating scare. (Driving hard in nearly 100* weather. Has never happened again.)
The previous owner had stripped the exhaust and installed (poorly) a new one sans cats and O2 sensors. I had a new custom exhaust installed with new cat and O2 sensors, after which it cleared Denver emissions with no extended tests. (30-second fast pass. All the emissions techs were pretty amazed.
(Thanks @overhanger!)
Outside of that I've done nothing else mechanical except tighten a loose oil pan plug to resolve a pretty severe oil leak. I'm not sure how it worked loose but it has not happened again.
Here's a list of everything else I've done.
Replaced power antenna. (Thanks
@cruiserdan!)
Took apart the master window switch and cleaned all contacts. Replaced the other 3 switches. All windows now work.
Replaced front window channel seals.
Replaced rear cargo door lock trim piece.
Lubricated all moving parts on all door locks. All are working now except rear cargo door lock. (See below for details.)
Rear cargo door electric lock relay is bad. It locks but doesn't unlock. I just ordered a replacement relay from CruiserYard that will take of that. Fixed!
Took apart light switch assembly and cleaned contacts to fix bright lights.
Installed used wheel well covers. Looks much nicer now.
The license plate light assembly had rusted out on the inside. Removed all rust, treated, and installed LED's. Looks and works great.
Replaced front driver's side parking light.
Rear cargo door lock and glove box lock do not work with key. I plan on taking them to a locksmith to get re-keyed one of these days.
Just ordered a couple boxes of trim panel connectors to replace all the loose ones that don't seat properly.
The only other issues I'm aware of are the birfields (They will probably need to be repacked soon.) and an undiagnosed, slow leak directly under the transmission bell housing. (I haven't added a drop of oil since I got it home and still shows full.) Outside of that, this truck is solid. It does not burn any fluids. Runs and drives great. Starts every time. In fact, I started it this morning after it had sat for over a week in the Denver fall (think 20's - 30's at night, 40's - 60's during the day, occasional snow) and it turned over so quickly it startled me!
I don't want to say the Beast is perfect, or even the best FJ62 you can buy, but it is a great truck and I definitely thinks it's worth what I'm asking. I'll even throw in a box of random parts worth ~$400+ for any IH8MUD member who buys it!
