OK so the time has come to let my baby "elsie" go.
Very clean 1987 Toyota Landcruiser. This is one of the nicest FJ60's you will find. I have spent hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars to get this 60 to where it is now.
Has 350,000 miles on the odometer, however nearly every major component has been replaced or rebuilt.
Under the hood:
Replaced the motor with a stock inline 6 with 130k, when replacing the motor installed new Toyota oem clutch, resurfaced the flywheel and replaced rear main seal, installed new oil pan gasket.
New water pump, new aluminum 4 core radiator, new battery, rebuilt carb, new intake/exhaust manifold gasket, new master clutch cylinder, new master brake cylinder, new fuel filter, new fuel pump.
The a/c was converted to 134a and I installed new dryer and charged last year but refrigerant has gone down again so it has a leak that I have not found so im listing as a/c not working because I have not found the leak. Heat works great.
Under the truck:
Rebuilt the straight axle front end and knuckles (very common and expensive repair) with all new bearing and Marlin heavy duty seals, new brake calipers and pads, all new shocks, all new tie rod ends and steering box rebuilt by West Texas offroad (best in USA) all new ujoints, replaced transfer case, when replacing the transfer case installed new seal between tcase and transmission (common place for leak) all new seals in transfer case.
Truck has 3" lift leaf springs with added heavy insert to prevent sagging), all brand new 31" Maxxis Bighorn mud terrain tires (less than 500 miles on tires)
The interior is in very good condition. Has the normal tear in the drivers seat but the rest is great. dash in very good condition, all other seats and carpet in very good condition, headliner is great, after market radio and speakers. Tail gate works properly. tinted windows.
I installed after market oil pressure, temp, voltage gauges. The oil pressure runs consistently at 60+psi (great for this truck) the temp is nice and cool and generally around 170 degrees thanks to the aluminum radiator.
Exterior is in very good condition for its age. Has some minor dings and scratches but nothing major. Paint still shines with a coat of wax. Has roof rack with high lift jack mount. Snorkel. Has a couple of very small rust bubbles around where the mud flaps were but would not even consider it to be rust at this point.
Overall this is an awesome fj60. Runs great starts every time you get in (even when its very cold out) Shifts very smooth with stock 4 speed manual trans. I have a company truck so I do not drive it much but try to put a few miles on it every week just to keep fresh gas going through the carb. The only repair that was on my to-do list is there is a slight vibration when going over 60 mph, and I think the bearings in the rear third will need to be replaced at some point. The reason I did not is that I was going to wait until I put different gears in so I could run larger tires. All fluids have been changed, including trans, tcase, oil, coolant, brake and clutch, and both diff's.
For those who know about these trucks, you can see that all the typical problems that contribute to the "cost of ownership" have been taken care of.
This is truly a must see. I am always having people stop me and ask about it. Unfortunately my family has grown a bit since I got it and the back seat only has lap seat belts which is not the best for hauling around the very young kids so I need to let it go and get something a little better for the family.
Please feel free to ask questions. I can send pics of anything anyone needs to see. Would prefer to sell this locally and not ship. Asking 7500.00
A big thanks to all the members on here who have helped me to get my 60 to where it is now. There is no way I could have done it without Ih8mud. Thanks.
