1987 2.4 turbo diesel 2LT Hilux fuel injection (rotary pump)... when hot does not start..:deadhorse: when cold starts and drives great.. turn it off after running... will not start again...:bang: Now here is where it gets not only interesting but whimsical too...:crybaby: Pour cold water over the injection pump and it will then start right up.:steer: Some one said it needs rebuilding... it already was done. But is there a fix of some sorts instead of pulling the bloody thing out and bench testing and rebuilding it again..:flush:. There has to be some kind of reason cold water effects the pump in a way it starts again.... Is it an internal thermal switch of some kind..:ban: any answers to this would be most appreciated about now... I carry a gallon of water with me where ever I go... geeeesh!!!

We are lucky at MUD to have a section specifically for Toyota diesel engines. You might poke over there and get a better, and quicker, answer.

The answer to my PROBLEM has been resolved with a new alternator.. apparently the vacuum pump connected to the alternator was not working..:bang: and making the fuel injection act up,:moon: where as I had to put cold water on it to start it up... now it starts right up after the new install.... Yaaaaaaaaa!!!!!

NOW DOES THE HIGH ALTITUDE compensator need to be hooked up to improve performance as I am lacking a little power going up hills??? Anyone on this one want to respond???? :repost:

The altitude compensator was fitted to the 2LT engines only, not the 2L or 1L. So yes, they do need it! If you don't connect it, have you sealed the end of the vacuum hose?
