Here is your chance to own the “Colorado Silverback”. This 1986 fj60 cruiser is ready to go wheeling now. It is the fastest most capable vehicle I have owned. Cruse to the trail at 75+ mph wheel all day then drive home. Only selling it to fund a Willys Wagon build. Until it sells I’m going to keep driving and wheeling it like it should be driven. Also going to keep working on it but the price will get firmer the more work I do to it. Asking $16900.00 obo. Make me a realistic offer and it could be yours.

The body is in good shape with very little rust (surface rust) as well as the frame. There are a few small dings and one big dent from wheeling (Passenger side rear). It is fixable just hasn’t been a priority.

Interior is pretty much stock. Front seats have a few rips here and there.

Has a nice Pioneer radio set up for XM.

Break down of the build:

400ph LT4 out of a 96 Grand Prix Corvette (approximately 70k miles) – Opti pack was removed and a hot rod tuned computer was added as well as individual coil packs for each cylinder. Afterburner headers with custom exhaust. I wanted to keep it kind of quiet but you’re still not going to sneak up on anyone. I get about 15 mpg. That is almost as good as a stock fj80.

TCI 4speed 7004r auto transmission

Duel transfer cases NP203/Toyota case - in Low,Low it is unstoppable.

SOA – Previous owner did this and did an awesome job. Rides smooth and flexes well. The knuckles were cut and turned. Drives straight and no crazy bump steer. Shocks are getting old but I have a pair of Rancho 9000s that I plan on installing. They are longer than stock to allow more flex so I need to build new brackets. Just haven’t done it yet.

Axles have 4:56’s gears with ARB locker up front and Detroit in the rear. Was told the rear axle was chromoly and fronts were long fields. I haven’t broken anything with the 37s so they must have been upgraded.

37in Goodyear MTRs with Trail ready beadlocks (true beadlocks)

High Steer- with new tie rod ends from Man-A-Fre

Disk brakes and hub conversion up front from a 4runner

Bigger 1” master cylinder

36 gallon long range gas tank from Man-A-Fre

Kaymar rear bumper

Custom high clearance front bumper with 8k Superwinch w/ hand held controller (works but I have never had to use it)

Custom rock sliders

Custom storage area in tailgate.

The bad. There isn’t much.

I can’t guarantee it will pass Front Range emissions. Right now it is registered in the mountains so it doesn’t have to pass. It shouldn’t be too tough thou.

The back window is plexiglass (watertight). Had a handle bar go thru the window. The guys up in Salida want $300 for tail gate with glass. I know I can get one for cheaper on craigslist. Just have to be patient, and I kind of like the rat rod look.

The Power steering works just not as good as I would like. Still 100% drivable just have to strong arm it sometimes to park. Still working this out.

$16900.00 obo. Make me an offer and lets see what happens

Thanks Josh

I have to make sure that when the day comes, wherever I retire to doesn't have weird emission laws for old vehicles. NY is tax death country, but one great thing here is: vehicles 25 years and older- you could have a coal engine in the damn thing...they're emission-exempt!
And I know other States that have even looser emission laws...

Awesome 60. What air filter is that? I like it a lot.

The air filter itself is from a Ford Excursion. The rest of the plumbing is a mix of Dodge , Chevy and Jeep stuff from the salvage yard.

Not only do the waffles taste great they keep the tools from rattling around.

It handles pretty good for as big as it is. It does take a little longer to stop but that is to be expected. Really only wanders if the hwy is all jacked up. I had been going off and on driving it as my daily. I have a 50 mile round trip. But I just sold my Subaru and I'm not getting another car so it's going to be my daily till it sells. Its fun to drive so I'm totally cool with it.
