Hi there,

Love this forum and hope that someone can help me.

I have a 1986 BJ74 - 12 volt - in Australia
Having an issue with my driver side electric window.

1) The passenger window works from both the driver side and the passenger side.
2) The driver side window goes down but not up - this started as an intermittent issue but now permanent

The switch works and I can hear the relays clicking when I push the ‘up’ button but the motor doesn’t power up.
I can read 12v showing going into the relay box when I press the ‘up’ button - however the ‘power out’ wire shows no voltage when I do this.

I can power the window up if I wire the motor directly to a battery.

The box in the diver side door has “ power window Toyota - 85930 - 90K00 / 165000 - 0670 12V Denso “ written on it

Can I fix this myself or has anyone got an idea of how to track down a replacement?

Many thanks - luckily it’s winter in Australia but I would love my window to work again :)

Hello,

That is the power window relay. It is possible that it is long discontinued.

You can use the relay from a newer model 70 Series. By newer model, I mean up to 2014. From that model year on, the power window system changed and ditched the relay.

Your driver's window switch may be gone. In old age, carbon builds up on the plates and blocks current flow, thus preventing the circuit from moving the window.

Again, you can use the door switch panel from a newer model 70 Series.

You can replace both parts yourself.
