Starting a new thread as I've decided to hang on to my 40 for a while. Other thread was getting confusing.

1985 BJ70 LX $10K or best offer

restored in canada about 6-7 years ago

Engine runs well with no smoke

***I have a brand new set of doors that will fix most of the rust problems sitting in my garage.***

Some rust issues have crept back since resto. rear door has top corner rot, drivers and passenger door has minor rot along the bottom edge. Drivers side front pillar has some rust. All in all not bad and looks great!

This truck gets plenty o compliments and people stop me all the time to talk about it.

Underside has been coated and oiled and looks very clean.

Interior is very clean. Super clean. Only missing the small compartment under the radio which is cheap and easy to find.

Heat switch needs a fixin. Can't slide the heat lever to fresh air. Fan switch works so not a big issue. No A/C.

Drives great. Brakes and clutch are sweet. Drives straight. Doors close nicely. Engine runs well.

All lights, radio, etc work.

Currently registered in MA and is my daily driver.

Suspension is very nice. Rides beautifully!

Has Air-Ride type seats as well.

Looking to sell or perhaps a partial trade for a 40 plus cash.

Make me an offer! This is my daily driver right now and is great. I'm in the wine business so I need something bigger to haul cases of wine around in. Selling this so I won't need to have a car payment.

Located in Millis, MA.

PM me and I can send more pics

70 has tons more legroom than the 40......tons. very comfortable. actually debated over keeping the 70 due to the legroom alone. I just bought a Nissan Pathfinder 2002 and it's far less comfortable than this 70.

Gets about 28-30 mpg.

I be needin some garage space....why everyone hatin on 70's?? Cut me a check foo......

Tons of interest but nobody has pulled the trigger. Taking it up to NH this weekend for some fun!

How much for A/C parts? Is that a factory or aftermarket A/C set up you checked into? I'd love to own it , summers can be brutal here in the southwest so A/C would be beneficial!

I've been told AC would cost about $2K but if you got parts from AU it would liekly be cheaper. (I have some sources down there) Don't quote me on it but that is what I was told as far as price.

So that is a factory unit?

You ca get most of the factory parts down there but you'll need to get the condenser and another part here as mine is LHD and down there its RHD. Guess some parts make a difference. I think someone posted up about adding AC to a 70 here on MUD. Prolly better info

Just drove it roughly 330 miles, 5 hours round trip on 3/4 tank of diesel. Insanely comfortable drive and maintained 65-70 on the highway easy. Thinking it might be better to sell my 40 instead!

Room in a 70

To clarify- there is indeed a lot of room for the driver and front seat passenger in a 70- my 70 is more comfortable than my 55 or my 60 and far more so than the 40's I've owned. The space problem in a 70 ain't up front- it's in the back. The rear seat is difficult for an adult to get into and there is very little storage space behind the rear seat. Those of us spoiled space-wise by owning a 55 or 60 really notice the difference. It's a price one pays for having a short wheelbase vehicle.

The most uncomfortable driving position I have seen in any land cruiser has to be in a 45- seems like the steering wheel is right in your chest and there is very little room to move the seat back to accommodate long legs and arms. I wheeled Tom Humphries 45 at Paragon several times (33" tires and no power steering either) and was always glad to get out from behind the wheel.

My two cents. Shmukster

All true but the roof rack solves the space issues. Brought 2 35" mud terrains up on the rack and the both fit flat and snug. I also have a 101 which will help if I ever get it out of my garage. I have a 3 year old who rides in back easy so kids are fine in the back for longer trips. I;ve had 2 adults back there and it's snug but fine for shorter trips.

I agree on the 45, especially a pickup. Owned a few in the past and my legs are way too long for those

Yep. 31's.

Have a guy coming up from VA next week so if anyone is holding out, now would be the time....

Sorta. The guy in VA and I couldn't time it so he couldn't get up here last week. We're emailing basically every day and he says he wants it. Nothing's a done deal until i see a check or cash. Think it will be next week sometime before we meet up. PM me if interested! Have some local interest too. Not doing the used car-salesman thing but interest has spiked in the last 2 weeks significantly

It should. I finally got to crawl around a BJ-74 tonight. I want a 70. I need a 70. If I were free to spend my money right now, I'm pretty sure this one would be mine. By pretty sure, I mean I'd buy it.

In a lot of ways, I hope this gets sold real quick, because then I won't have to think about it any more. In other ways...

Still good luck to you John!

Dan
