Im selling this cruiser for a friend. He has owned it for 12 plus years. It sits in his heated garage and he has put about 2000 miles on it in this time. Says it came from California. Virtually rust free, has new tires and was painted 10 years ago. Odometer says 44,000 miles but in my opinion it is not correct. Has power steering and air, but air does not work. Cruiser has some odd markings, vent window, no marker lights in rear, odd seat belts, ugly rims although new, and ugly chrome bumper and headlight bezel.

Price is $60,000.
I don’t expect to sell it here on mud but I thought I might as well.

Please call me with any questions

Thanks
James

Sorry forgot pictures

Beautiful!

first thing I thought when you mentioned the chrome bumper and bezel,....middle east model?

Very nice and rare Cruiser!

The wheels are correct for the year. Maybe one of the guys with extensive 83’ knowledge will clarify your observations on the other items.

I do recall the 83’s, especially equipped with A/C and PS are not only rare, but also have several updates/unique/odd features.

Good luck with sale!

Towards the end of production of the fj40, Toyota used up parts such as wing windows rather than producing more new parts.

What is odd about seat belts? and what are the odd markings you speak of?

I have seen Some high elevation earlier models, sold in places like Co. that have side window defroster tubes coming out of the dash at sides a few inches.

IMO the white oem rims along with matching white bezel and roof are a bitchen, classic fj40 look that sets the vehicle apart from modified rigs.
Chrome bezels are popular in the middle east.

I would recommend your friend swapping the chrome bumper and bezel for white, and fixing the a/c !

The 83 is the most comfortable, refined fj40 to drive, without major mods to drive line etc. There is a reason they are nicknamed the
"Holy grail" of fj40 land cruisers

GLWS :)
