It is a lot of work. It really needed it though. Will be worth it. At times I wish I had bought a prebuilt head like you did.

I hope you get a lot of miles out of your rig. You’ve done a ton of work and deserve it!
I hope so, I feel pretty lucky when I purchased it I bought it out of Utah never actually laying hands on it till it was delivered to me in Indiana.I got Land Cruiser fever and pulled the trigger through rose colored glasses. But 2 years later and no major disruption till this. I got lucky.
I read your thread the other day and I am truly impressed how much you have done to your rig, in parking lots and cold weather. I bitch when my heater in my garage doesn’t work. Anyways, these rigs get into our blood and are true labors of love.

We are up and running, actually start crazy easy for sitting for 3 weeks, never got a chance to hit the gas pedal. Cranked it over 6-7 times to get fuel to carb, thought would do one more time for good measure, but started up when I cranked it over again.Everything seems 👍👍, no leaks got her burped and up to operating temp and let sit and idle for 30 min. Adjusted the idle down was idling a bit hirer than normal, 790 I usually set idle at 690ish.
Here is my next question : when do I check the head bolts to retorque? I know I check them warm but do I go by miles, heat up to operating temp cycles?? Have read a lot of threads but cant find anything that really states when.

I’d probably check the head bolts after a few hundred miles. Check the valve lash as well.

Being a bit paranoid about my mechanical skills, after just a couple of drives check the rocker bolts torque and valve lash ,3 out of the twelve I adjusted again. Will check head bolts when I reach 200 miles.
Other than that very happy how 60 is running.

Good to hear! I believe the valve lash is suppose to be h checked every 20-30K miles. I might be off on those numbers, but it does not hurt to check it often, especially after long hard trips.
