Hey guys,

I’m knew to this site so apologies if I haven’t posted in the correct forum. Long story short I blew my 2B engine, beyond repair. Sad day. Anyways finding another 2B is probably next to impossible but I’m wondering if anyone would know of where to begin looking if I were to try and find a 3B motor as I’m quite new to the Crusier world. Any information or leads would be appreciated. Located in Canada

Welcome to mud, sorry about your motor. Nice bj41 though!
You can look on the classifieds here, and post up asking for one, usually some floating around, could look for a combo with a h55f to get a 5 speed.

Where in Canada are you? Often I see them on craigslist in the Vancouver area, or rusted out bj60s with them in them.
There area also several land cruiser websites, and rebuilders who usually have used ones in stock if you want to pay a lot, depends which side your on to save on shipping.

Hope that helps you out.

Hey Samwise! Thanks for the reply and the h55 suggestion. I’ll have to keep and eye out and throw up a wanted post while I’m at is as well.

I’m in Calgary, Alberta.

Hey, I have a 2B. Shipping would be a bear probably. I pulled the head off due to disappearing coolant. Fine cracks between the valves so there it sits. It had decent compression numbers, but I’m told that doesn’t make sense. Was from a 1980 BJ44 JDM. Ran great except the smoke at this altitude. Needed to turbo here and found a 3b.

Just curious. What are the symptoms? Occasionally a Cruiserhead will get some bad advice about a 'blown' motor that turns out to be less serious.

Hey lowenbaru,
It’s toast unfortunately. Symptoms were mild but the day it happened it was a loud clicking noise that most likely was something falling down from the pre combustion chamber. It was checked out by both cruiser specialists here in Calgary and they both reached the same conclusion. Too much damage done and although it could be rebuilt both agreed it’s not worth it considering the costs involved

I will be pulling a really well running 3b2 from my 70 in the next couple of months for a swap. It has ~50k miles since the po had it completely overhauled, I have documentation of the work. It would also come with the correct input shaft and bellhousing for an h41/42/55f but not a complete transmission. I would be asking a fair price but unsure about the cost of shipping to Canada. Pm me if you’re interested and not in a rush, it would be nice to find a buyer for this one before pulling it.

That too bad. Not many engines come back from a dropped pre-cup. Many of the JDMs have had insufficient cooling maintenance and wind up getting hot once they are pushed hard after being imported. If it were me and I wasn't stuck on a correct 2B replacement I'd be looking for a 13BT. No precups to worry about and such a nice powerplant for a 40 series. Rusty BJ74 doner trucks are occasionally available in Alberta and will often get you a five speed as well.
