I am looking forward to hitting the dirt next weekend. I haven't checked the 10 day, but I am hoping the weather will be good.

How is the trailer coming along? I am now in the same place you were, trying to figure out the transportation situation.

I got the trailer. It's going to need tires at minimum. Trying to work it into the budget.

Do you just like working for Sam that much? Or are there some other "perks" we don't know about.

You do know San used to be a tech?

I helped! In fact I did most of the work on the lines and put the shock back on.

Until last night. I just put the other side back on. Now I have a full set of 4 again!

Cool, the sami has 4 connected, but I am pretty sure they are mostly just bump-stops/limiting straps at this point :D

Hey random Q; how do you think the sami would fare in "the jungle"?

Should be fine. Might be tough in spots with no lockers. The small size will help though. There are some tight spots in there.

The trails off of 8... not a chance. We backed down off a couple of places in Mike's 40 if that tells you anything.

Nah, I just like wrenching. It's therapeutic.

Thats what I'm saying. I drive all over the state to get my therapy sessions in,

Picked up Tanner from Toyota Day Camp yesterday. I still seem to have a problem with losing power steering fluid. I used the original reservoir because it mounts to the side of the inner fender instead of the wheel well area. I was short on space with having to make room for the air box and other items. The diameter of the return fitting on the reservoir was slightly smaller than the hose from the steering box. I tightened the clamp really well but I think when it gets hot and pressure starts getting higher it's still pushing it out. I'm going to try to move the clamp that's on there and add another. So it will have 2 clamps in line. Hopefully that will keep it from pushing the fluid out when it gets hot. I also have a spare bottle of ATF in the truck in case it gets low.

So the list currently is:
1. Get tires put on trailer
2. Put spare tire, hi lift, etc in truck
3. Go wheelin

Somewhere in there I gotta pack up all my camping stuff too... :hhmm:

Nice. I checked my fluids and welded a crack in my frame last weekend, so I should be good to go.

Sweet. I actually have an area in the rear frame right above the spring hanger that needs to be fixed. I will probably have to cut some out and weld a plate on there. It's pretty bad. I'll get around to that eventually.

Any idea what time you guys are heading up on Thursday?

Topped off the PS fluid, double clamped the return line, topped off the coolant and the "overflow reservoir", aired up my spare tire (we'll see if it has air Monday), mounted up the hi-lift in the bed, and put all my junk back in the center console. Whew. So the truck is ready! Just gotta get the trailer tires on early next week and I'll be ready to hit the road.

Dropped the trailer off yesterday to get the tires put on. Going to pick it up at lunch today.

Picked up the trailer. Still has some death wobble at 25. Rides much smoother though. I also got the tag in the mail. Should be ready to roll now.

Off topic, but what kind of mileage do you get with that tow setup?

I get about 10mpg if I keep the speed around 65. Most of that is because of the tires on the Tundra. I only get about 13.5 average normally.
