The doors should tell it all... and they did. I shot all the gaps and as you can see it is off by a quarter on each side at the bottom.

@Jdc1 thank you!!!
It took 1 1/2 days to do, but Im glad I did it!!:beer::bounce::bounce::cool::cool::hillbilly::hillbilly::hillbilly::steer::steer::steer::steer::steer:

Hahaha. Im pretty happy about it. I feel real good about how everything is going to fit together!!

Tomorrow I plan on fitting doors for permanent location and tire carrier!!!

Well lets see.... I started the day, mowed the yard, cut down 4 cypress trees that didn't make last summers "drought". Cut up the trees and hauled them in the rubbish pile. Weedeated the yard and raked all the leaves from the flower beds.

(Cracking Knuckles)....Ok time for some serious work.... CRUISER TIME!!

Bolted up gas tank. Put a fresh charge on the battery.

Pulled the choke all the way out..... pumped the accelerator ....... and BAM!! She fired right up!!

Not bad for a 6 month slumber.

Could not help myself and took her for a romp though the neighbors field. Well a short romp. I didn't realize I was literally "out of gas".

@MOTOV8R yes the only place I cut it was at the rear sill.

My floor pan measured 41" old and new.

Inside my door opening I measured 41" at the top of the top, 41" at the top of the tub and of course 41" at the floor pan.

Inside my door jam I measured 41 5/8" at the top of the top, 41 1/2" at the top of the tub and 41 1/2" at the rear sill.

I would check your top and see what that measurement is. The more reference measurements you have the better!!! 42" inside door jam is probably good. I know there is all kinds of "slop" in the rear doors on my rig.

You'll get a good feeling every time you look at it now. The small shop that our 40 is in restores very rare($$$...) antique vehicles. John, told me the other day that he builds every vehicle around the doors. He spent alot of time on our DS to get it right.

Great work, looking forward to more progress pics.

Thanks @pngunme !!

We were out at a customers house last week restoring their power and they had a 8 week old Golden Retriever. The owner was already working with the puppy. The owner had "dog sense" and that puppy was already responding to commands. I couldn't help but think of you Danny.

I sold my top for $600. We were moving and we weren't going to have room in the new house. I should have kept it. So only a factory style soft top now. Just need to fit the tailgate and be in the ball park. :hillbilly:

I'll leave the high quality work to you.

I have had two Labrador Retrievers over the years and trained them, worked them and played with them and loved them. When I bought my first Lab, I did tons of research to learn how to train them.

All of that to say this, of the working breeds.

Beagle and Blood Hounds are "nose strong", you can never call a them off the trail of a rabbit or convict.
Grey and Wolf Hounds are "sight strong", you can never call them off the chase of another animal.
The retrievers on the other hand.... Labs, Goldens, Chesapeake Bay...... are "Owner Strong". A well trained retriever will always come when called no mater what they are doing, chasing cats, eating something delicious, etc. They are in my opinion the best of breeds, they can doing anything and will do anything for you!

My dear ole dad help me in my understanding of animals. In the day he was the best rodeo cowboy in the area. He even qualified to go out to Las Vegas to ride in the late 60's. He had "horse sense" and he helped me translate that to "dog sense". I had to go off to college and I gave my first Lab, Sugar Bear, to my Dad for his keeping on the farm. Four months later I come home from college and my Dad calls on Sugar Bear and gives her the command to go get the cows up. She takes off to the field herding all the cows to the barn.:eek: Very strange to see a yellow Labrador Retriever herding cows.
