I bought this FJ40 2 years ago to work on as a project, but due to work and travel, it's collecting too much dust. Between my local mechanic and me, it's got a ton of new parts, and it's ready for someone else to take it to the next level.

Here is a list of the new parts and work completed:
  • New fuel pump
  • New spark plugs and wires
  • New air filter
  • New dual, side-exit exhaust
  • New rams horns exhaust manifolds
  • New Nitto Terra Grappler G2 tires & 17" steel rims (no spacers!)
  • Rebuilt hubs and steering knuckles
  • New power steering gear box
  • New tie rod ends and drag link
  • New shocks
  • New emergency brake system
  • New valve covers
  • New center console
  • New complete Specter Off-Road wiring harness
  • New Optima Yellow Top battery
  • New hood latches and windshield latches
  • New transfer case output seal
  • New axle input seals
  • New seat belts
  • New brake master cylinder
If I were to keep the Land Cruiser, here is a non-exhaustive list of things I would work on:
  • Oil leak from rear of the engine that shows up when engine gets hot (driving around the neighborhood won't result in leaking)
  • Interior is ready for some work. The driver's side door panel needs to be replaced (I'm including a pair of door panels with the truck), and there is a small bend in the door frame (not the door) that should be straightened out (I can send pictures if you want).
  • The ducting from the heater to the defrost vents needs to be replaced
  • The steering wheel needs a horn button (the horn wire works just fine, but would look better with a button)
  • Will need jump seats or a bench seat in the back if you want to take more than a single passenger
  • If you decide to put seats in the back, you'll need to get a tire carrier as the spare is in the back now
  • The winch needs to be wired back up. I took the wiring out when I had the full wiring harness replaced.
I'm happy to answer any questions you have and I can provide additional pictures if you want them.

Looks nice! If it was closer to finished I’d be interested (I don’t need a project), and you’re only a few hours from me!

You need a price on a for sale thread, and more pictures will help your cause in getting it sold (engine, interior, undercarriage, etc).

I appreciate the feedback! I updated with the price and added some replies with more pictures. Thanks again!

Where can I get that emergency brake set up.

The parking brake setup came from cruiserparts.net. It was a pretty straightforward bolt on, and I had the output shaft seal replaced at the same time. It’s not OEM strength, but it passes inspection!

Yup I've got the same setup for the e-brake on my mini truck.

Were you trying to sell this rig a while ago? It looks awfully familiar to me.
