Absolutely, but the considerations aren't any different than for aluminum heads (1FZ) or aluminum radiators.

It'd be cheaper than paying someone to repair the old rusty steel tub!!
Agreed 100%. A good friend runs a resto-mod shop and his rule of thumb is that the actual rust covers an area 4-5x of what you can see blistering. In his shop, I'd guess $25-30 k in body work for just the rust - but he does high end cars mostly ...

I wouldn't be surprised if he got $5K for it. Maybe a little more, but not much. The rust is definitely a discriminator - but it seems mechanically sound... If one were inclined to use Bondo and filler, it might not be terribly expensive for the body work... At least as much as the truck would cost, though.

Thanks again for all the feedback. I have shared this with the owner, and he'll look into the tub swap option. Depending on the costs, he may just decide to keep it for use on the farm.

Update on this...the owner decided to just park it out on the road with a For Sale sign. It sold pretty quickly to a local guy for $8,500.

WOW... i know they are hot commodities right now but wow.

have a sign in 45 and noone has come close to that price even. He did beyond well.
So what road was this ? lol
