Toyota: Land Cruiser FJ 55

Auction Priced with Reserve

Quote from listing:

"Full stage three TLC restoration approximately 7 years ago for CEO of a major American retail clothing company. If you are not familiar with the work of TLC you can visit their website and read about their extensive restoration processes. Vehicle has 73,000 original miles on it, and is 100% rust free. No expense was spared on this restoration."

The damn thing is just drop dead beautiful and you know the work at TLC is top notch, but I would have to see the before pictures and what they did to the body as far as rust abatement. My inner being is always screaming " RUST ". I just can't assume it's been treated, but man what a nice looking 55!

So I was going to place a couple bids on this one and I read the popup as I was submitting the bid, apparently if you bid on a vehicle E-bay gives your information to the seller to use as they see fit to solicit business, quote” eBay Motors sellers who are high-volume sellers have access to bidder information for all bidders participating in a particular eBay Motors transaction. These dealers may contact you about the vehicle you bid on or to discuss additional inventory that might be of interest to you.” I’m not sure but something smells fishy to me, between that and the fact this seller and 18 completed transaction on this EBay account nothing related to high end cars I backed out.

eBay Motors complete bidding policy,

Under the terms of such a bid, you are expressly consenting to share your information with your seller under certain circumstances and consenting to the seller contacting you about your offer on the vehicle or similar vehicles for sale.

eBay Motors sellers who are high-volume sellers have access to bidder information for all bidders participating in a particular eBay Motors transaction. These dealers may contact you about the vehicle you bid on or to discuss additional inventory that might be of interest to you.

eBay Motors sellers that receive this bidder information are only authorized to use this information for the purposes that you have expressly consented to, and are bound by the terms of our User Privacy Notice regarding the use of personal information they receive from eBay.

J Mack,

what is buyer's information really mean? Companies share information all the time, but I'm not sure what they share, maybe just you're e mail address. This is a good one, at least we know it was built by one of the top guys in the business and I bet Mr. Ward could tell you more about what they did to it. I just like looking at it!

Ron,

When you sign up for EBay you give all your contact info (E-mail, Address, Phone number, etcetera) I understand needing to share this info between buyer and seller but not between bidders and sellers.

I have no interest in adding my contact info to a sellers list of potential buyers or worse yet having my info sold to a group of used car sales men just because I bid on a car on eBay. I get enough unwanted calls, E-mail and junk mail now that I’m cautious with my personal info.

And honestly I’m a buyer of this pig @ $30,000 or less and at the rate it’s climbing they’ll hit that number with three days yet to go on the action, TLC has a 1965 FJ-45 – Stage three restored Toyota listed on their sight right now for sale that I would buy if I was willing to spend more than $30,000 for another Toyota I don’t need.

I'm with Scrapdaddy. This thing is gorgeous.

At $30k, I'd be VERY interested as well. As is to be expected, the cost estimate for my project continues to rise, to the point that I'll have at least that much invested when it's all said and done.

I don't know if the bidding will get there or not, but I suspect it takes $40-45k to purchase this one. There are lots of pros to buying one properly restored but, for that kind of money, I think I'll take the long weekends and late nights wrenching on the project I've already started.

It's not the cost. It's the comradeship, knowledge obtained from the brethren while working on your Pig. Anyone can buy 1. Only special individuals go in Ass deep. Money is only secondary. Values and lessons learned and friendships will always be remembered. :):pig:

Hey Bob,

Let me try that line on my Wife "money is only secondary" :) When she gets back from Florida, I'll see what she says!
