I must be doing something wrong. I have 4 of the exact same windshield wiper motors and none of them seem to pass the bench test.

I have disassembled them and the brushes are good, the gears are good, the contacts on the gear plate is good, the ground is good, armature is not burned, etc, etc.

I remember Toyota having problems with this vintage and going with the larger size from 1979 and up, I think.

Anybody have a good way to test these 4 wire setups? The FSM is a bit vague.

Thanks

Dan

hmm just went and grabbed a motor but i don't have a batter handy to test it on - i'm alllmost positive

blue with black stripe is - or ground..

blue is constant power for returning to start
blue with colored stripes are different speeds

The lineup.

I cannot believe I cannot make any of them work.

I need to bench test a 1977/78 windshield motor too. Can you tel me which wires go where?

Thx

I think the larger motors started in late ‘78. My brothers 3/76 manu date is a smaller motor I believe.

Here’s how my 76 wiper motor was wired.

Make sure you pull the cover and remove the old dry grease. Replace it with a quality silicone dielectric grease.
