I have a 1975 FJ40 which is the Toyota Sky Blue color. This vehicle has a long strip of chrome that runs from the leading edge of the hood back towards the windshield about half way I think. Is this chrome piece unusual? I cannot recall seeing another FJ with it. One person told me that the FJs that were sold in Costa Rica had that chrome piece for the FJ gas model, and the BJ diesel did not come with it. It's nothing earth shattering, but I just can't recall seeing it on other FJs. I've looked online and do not see that strip installed on the pictured units, at least from the vantage point I can view the hood. Any insight?

Commonly referred to as a hood spear. I believe it stopped in late 71? My guess if your 75 has it, is that an earlier 2 piece hood was swapped on at some point as the later hoods are a 1 piece with the spear bump molded in.
Maybe non-American markets had them longer?

Not sure if you noticed but this was posted in the 60 series section.

I remember my dad's '66 had it. Didn't have a defroster though. I loved that LC.

Your truck has the wrong hood. That hood was on earlier than '72 FJ40's. I had it on my '66 FJ45. They are a cool feature,
you need to do research.

I so appreciate your insight. I am researching now. I didn't even know there both one piece and two piece hoods. I will keep researching.

Also, sorry about posting in the wrong place. I always enjoy perusing the IH8MUD site, but I don't do it often enough to always follow the protocol. Will be more careful.
