I was thinking serious about this, but with it being $9600 and almost $500 in buyers fees it seems like a lot with the rockers that are rusting and the fender. Plus brakes that need work before you drive it. Ami wrong in thinking $10100 is too much for this 55?

Somebody threw a high bid in there, seems odd to me. That's getting up there for what you want to do.

Man, this thing's up to $11,500. It's crazy for something with fender rust, the rockers are rusty and two bug dents in the back.

Holy crap!

The guys that purchased this pig (the FJ Company) also primarily do custom builds/restorations. Someone purchases one of their "Available for Restoration" vehicles out of their "Inventory" and they will then do the restoration. They currently have a 1980 non-US model FJ55 in inventory that they will restore for somebody. Total cost to the client for the 55 and restoration will be more than $100k. That is why they can afford to pay as much as they do.

I have visited BAT for years before they had the auctions and it used to be a great place to find deals on cars. The auctions arrived and now all the cool cars go for very high sums (I blame it on rich foreign buyers for the skyrocketing prices). BAT has 4-5 FJ55s on there a year and I imagine that will only continue to grow as people realize what a great looking unique truck the 55 is.
They do have some interesting toyotas on there from time to time.

Check out 1989 Toyota Land Cruiser BJ70 LHD

1989 bj70, the auction is at $5000

I am still floored that this thing went for so much. My rig was not far off condition wise and I had the original PTO winch and got mine for $2K. This thing was not low miles, it was not rust free, so why so much?
