How cool is this? A 1970 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40, Capri Blue, that is nearly rust free.... Or about as rust free as most of us will ever see.

This gem was bought new in the state of Texas where it resided until its original owner passed it down to his grandson who drove it back to Utah when the clutch went out on him. It was towed the remaining distance and then stored for the next 10+ years.

Here's what has been done since bringing it back from its grave...

Body: We stripped the exterior parts and gave it a good wash and buff job. The paint is in exceptional condition and has some really great patina, but it is thin in some spots. The hood and windshield hold downs were crusty so we stripped them and refinished them in the original pewter color. The mirror arms were also repainted pewter. They are black in some of the pics, but are refinished in pewter now. Both mirrors have new OEM mirror heads as well. We also stripped all of the old weatherstripping off of both doors and the rear doors and installed new OEM weatherstripping.

Interior: The interior was actually in really good shape. The driver seat only had a minor tear but the rear seats looked weathered but no tears. Both front and rear seats have new OE style seat covers and have the original seat belts in good condition. The floor pans are 100% solid, front to back. We also installed an OE style headliner.

Mechanical: She runs like the wind! After sitting for that long who would have thought. Grandpa had a peppy 350 installed somewhere along the way. It has a fresh tune up; plugs, wires, cap, rotor and oil change. We also installed a new clutch and clutch master cylinder. She fires up with the first bang of the key! All of the electrical works as well! Blinkers, lights, brake lights, horn, gauges, etc. Oh, and you can actually drive this truck down the highway at highway speeds not like the awesome F motor she was born with. Oh.... she's also got an older a/c unit. The compressor turns over so maybe there is a chance it works. If the new owner would like us to look into that we can most certainly do so.

those motor pics were pre cleaning... I will get some better ones tomorrow.

Looks like a pretty solid rig other than the quarter. Too bad about the engine. What kind of shape are the brakes in?

Brakes are excellent.

Brakes are excellent.

Excellent? Appear to be original single circuit and from the photos looks like the reservoir is loosing fluid pretty fast. In one photo its nearly full and in next photo its close to empty.?

Looks like the two photos with different fluid levels were taken at reverse times, in the photo with less brake fluid there's also no clutch master and battery.

The one engine bay photo is when I got the truck... It had sat for many many years. We did a fluid change on everything. Correct about the clutch master. That's the reason it was parked, like I said the two dirty engine bay pics were pre purchase. We put a new clutch and clutch master in it. The brakes work well. They don't pull left or right and you don't have to stop your foot to the floor to stop.

Price bump... $15,500.
