I really hate to do this, but the rot on our beloved '69 FJ55 (Doc) has gotten to the point that I don't have the ability or time to tackle it. It is For Sale. :frown:

Starts and runs great, original F engine, 3-speed transmission, and transfer case all in good shape, body is rotten from the waist down. Frame is getting bad also. Brake master cylinder pukes horribly (new Toyota master cylinder overhaul kit included), so no brakes. Clutch is worn out also. Honestly, the ol' '55 would make a better parts 'Cruiser than anything, unless you are willing to take on a HUGE project. I'm asking $1200. Interested parties may either PM me, or call/text me at (505) 363-3897. Leave a message, I will call you back.

Thanks!

Chris Porter

Too bad Brewtus, that thing looks so original!

Thanks Pablo. Yeah, I really hate to do it but the old beast is in really bad shape, and we need another vehicle for the SO to drive. At least I still have the blue one to have fun with. It too has rust issues, but not nearly as terminal as the tan one. :frown:

This pig was born and raised in Ruidoso, New Mexico. The first owner sold it after 9 months or so 'cause it "scared him". Second owner had it for the next 3 decades. She was a dispatcher for the Police Department for Ruidoso and Ruidoso Downs. She was also a member of the Lincoln County Search and Rescue. This pig was not only her winter transportation, but also her S&R vehicle. :D

Problem was she never washed it after the winter seasons. Doc was always (literally) "rode hard and put away wet". Someone attempted some bodywork/rust repair in the early '80's, but wound up doing more of a butcher job than anything else. It still has the stainless steel serving trays liberated by my SO from a Cattle Baron restaurant (where she worked in the mid-'80's) acting as driver's and passenger's floor pans. The previous owner is a good family friend, and Doc has been a family member for many, many years. This is why it breaks my heart to sell it, but I really can't do anything with it. That's why it's here.

Yessir it is. West of Roswell in the El Capitan mountains. 'Ol Doc helped rescue dozens of lost/injured hikers, hunters, skiers, etc. from Roswell to Las Cruces to Socorro from the early '70's to the mid-'90's. Some alive, some not so much. The PO was usually one of the first responders whenever Lincoln County SAR was called, always in this '55. Doc never failed to start, and it never let her down. It's a damn good 'Cruiser with a cool history, but the rust issues are more than my ability and time can tackle. I truly wish circumstances were different, but they're not. Doc can now either be someone's piggy project, or go to keep other piggies going. :)
