Great reliable FJ40, looks great and drives great. Just enough upgrades to make it drive a little easier and go a few more places, but not enough to take away from the great stock look of the FJ40. This is a great truck for the person looking for an "unmolested" vehicle which is very hard to find in a 47 year old vehicle
Upgraded but still very much original feeling - which is what drew me to this 7 years ago- that and it is nearly rust free. Reproduction soft top that looks great and makes it super easy to have an open air feel. Comes with both hard doors and half soft doors. I have worked hard to continually fix the little details. The paint job is good at 10 feet, but not great closer. The oil pressure and stock water temp gauges don't work, I have added a secondary aftermarket water temp gauge. Has stock F motor and stock 3 speed (may be original matching motor and transmission for all I know). Has some leaking of oil which I think is the oil pan. Everything works to the best of my knowledge with what I have listed below as "the bad". I am selling as I don't get the time I would like to get up to the trails and I have a 15 and 14 year old that I would like to purchase a vehicle for in the next year.
Here is the list of additions/upgrades:
- HEI ignition
- Reproduction canvas 7 window soft top and correct bows.
- 1.5 inch lift - currently has 32 inch tires
- Power steering conversion using Toyota mini truck power steering method
- Electric fan
- Front disc brakes
- Newer style clutch master and slave cylinder (69 style is not made anymore)
- New reproduction carburetor (previously had an aftermarket that just didn't work right)
- New clutch about 5 years and maybe 700 miles ago along with new rear main seal.
- Both rears seats in place (long version), one has been re-upholstered
- Rear seat belts
The bad:
$10,500 OBO

The bad:
- After sitting for 6 months I have yet to get rid of an oil leak, it looks to me that it is leaking around oil pan, but I am not 100% sure yet.
- 1 spot of rust on the passenger side rear door (picture included)
- 1 small tear in the rear window of soft top (checked with local company and roughly $100 to replace)
