I got this one in a trade from a friend recently who wanted a running vehicle instead of a project. He had it over 12 years and just never got to it.
I was thinking of building it until my wife decided she and the kids want to come along =) (big yay!) So since I have permission to get a fj55, fj60, fj80 this one needs to go.
I would also consider trading this plus cash (up to $3k more) to get a turn key fj55, fj60, fj62, fj80 that I could go off roading right now
Details
1969 fj40 that had a restoration done to it about 12 -14 years ago. It has been sitting for at least 10 years with no motor. Title is out of the CA DMV so no fees- I do have a signed title in hand so paper work will be easy.
I can’t find any rust on the outside of the body – it does have a small outside dent that is visible in the photos. On the underside in the rear you can see where the rear cross member cracked. There is a 1” piece of steel welded in to strengthen it.
Has power steering with the stock placement of the steering box.
31” tires that need to be replaced.
Custom bumpers front and rear, pull bar attachments in front including 5 way light plug in under bumper, diamond plate in the rear, chrome in lots of places. Upgraded steering column to a tilt Chrysler unit, custom rollbar inside, upgraded seats, custom storage area in rear instead of rear seats.
Fresh built 350 straight from machine shop – tape is still on intake, TH350 short tail – has a rebuilt sticker on it, NP203 transfer case, Early land cruiser 3 speed transmission with vacuum transfer case, custom drive shafts and stock, Advance adapter V8 mount kit brand new plus a lot of misc parts
Some one put a LOT of time and effort into this vehicle at one point.
I am guessing that $4000 is a good price for a pretty rust free fj40 with a fresh built motor- if not let me know
