If the number stamped on your block matches your VIN plate you've got the correct block.![]()
I have no Engine number stamped on the serial plate, just a frame number. Are you saying that my engine should be stamped with the same number as the frame number??? I was told, by I have no idea at this point (input overload), that those numbers are not supposed to match.
Just a note, I do have the "original" carb and adapter plate, so I'm good there. It came with the FJ. I also have gathered the correct oil bath and air filter setup. I am gonna send the carb to Mark to have him rebuild it.

Oh yeah, you might want to check the red breather hose on the valve cover. That is supposed to go to the air cleaner and allow clean air into the motor. It looks like it's diving down to the road, not much clean air down there. That, and two PCV valves in series are typical carb swap idiocy.......

Uhhhh, that is gone already. I think the PO was trying to get the vapors to exit by the tires instead of in the cab. I just LOOOVVVEEE backwoods engineering.
I am also trying to figure out where the adapter plate small nipple (marked "n" in the diagram) is supposed to go. Mark A said prolly emissions, so cap it off. Am I really the only one with this setup?? Why is the year after so different?
Another crazy note: I may be looking at a "new" 1968 tonight or manana. I'm not obsessed, I just cant get enough.
