Right on man :D

Yeah it can monsoon here lol.
my truck leaks more around where the plastic windows slide up and down on the driver and passenger side soft doors more than anything :D

Super stoked for my OCD top down the road, my eshan top has ripped in a few places, but it will get me through the winter :D

Best thing in a storm is the heater on full blast too :D
Nice and toasty, with the elements whipping outside.

Not to hijack this tread more than it already is, but aren't some of the tops OCD makes, made out of that Sunbrella fabric?

Jim used traditional canvas on mine, not the marine stuff.be careful on your material selection and the construction will be fine. I really did intend this one to never get wet.

Badger used a two sided high end convertible top material that is soft and weatherproof, only thing I didn't like about that was the dark interior. .

I would have to check but I believe the window channel weather stripping from the hard top doors should work in the soft top doors. Toyota still has it. Different design. Old style was felt. The new style rubber. Sealng these doors up should be a problem.

Curious Destin how is your windshield in the rain. Does it fog up up? My problem with fogging up has to do with moisture from people breathing inside a closed vehicle. So outside air solves this problem. Not sure how well it would work in Western Oregon when it's raining. Modern vehicle use the A/C compressor to dry the outside air.

After seeing Whitey45's new to him LV with the factory heater I've come up with a idea of how to make a fresh air kit for these early heaters using a second cowl vent. It will go in so no new holes have to be drill into the tub and came be removed at any time:hhmm:.

Good idea about the rubber from the hard doors for the window, I will look into that! thanks man :D

I keep a "defrost" towel in my truck for when it is warming up, if it is cold and rainy, i crack the window and crank the heat, and find a strange balance :)

A fresh air system hooked to the defrost vents could be interesting, like you can switch it from heat to cold, hmm kinda neat idea!

ok sorry hijacking over :D

Right on :)

The top looks awesome btw.

First picture is a FJ40 aftermarket top on the early style bows.

Second picture is of a aftermarket kayline top made for the early soft top.

Third picture is a hard top installed onto a early soft top. The original B pillar bow is cut off at the header to fill in the gap. Those are OEM correct doors with metal skin added to the bottom half.

Cool story bro..how does it end?

Got lucky and helped a friend out at the same time...and finally got an early FJ40 again. :D

I had a 64 for awhile and loved it but had to sell when I got divorced....as well as selling my 77 BJ40! :crybaby: A friend in the Rising Sun found a cool 62 factory soft top a few years ago, and it has been in her garage ever since. She had a car accident and was buying something new, and was going to sell her 40...I was interested but was too busy to take a look....then saw that she was TRADING it in to the dealer! NOOOO!!! Then she could not find the title, which was my cue to step in and pay cash. :) I do not have it in my garage yet, picking up this week, but here are some pics....starts right up, but she says the steering wheel moved but the wheels do not...

she kind of dropped out of sight....never found the title so I never could buy it...
