A title and frame and I could save the old girl but

less than a year old for AZ; Title is no longer necessary for a vintage car, a quick visual inspection to confirm frame vin matches body vin, the vin checks out to be clear and $30 dollars later you have a clean and clear title in hand. one of the vehicles I titled recently was not only not running but the drivetrain was absent.

it would be nice if this one got it's due respect

You can get a new title in CA on a RUNNING vehicle that is no longer in the system with a bill of sale, an affidavit swearing the the vehicle has not been operated during that time, and show up at DMV for a VIN verification. You will also need to prove that VIN is consistent with the "vehicle year" you are claiming the vehicle to be, which is eay for FJ40's. That's how I got my '72 on the road.

The hood latch location on the right fender apron = left apron intake hole. This one also has the centered rear diff axle, easy way to put 40 brakes on a 25.

You spoiled if for me John.:frown: I was going to say I have a software program that allows me to take a picture and look at it 360 degrees just like I;ve seen on TV.

Still trying to figure out if the 61 brakes are the same as the 62 and later. been trying to find a micro-fiche at least parts numbers from a 61 to compare to 62 and FJ25. I have 61 with real goofy brake drums that were included with the sale. He said his shop replaced the drums but were auntil to get the new drum working correctly. One of these days I will have to dig into it to see what I fine.

Interesting. I have a 61 with a worthless Washington title. Frame and cowl VIN plate match as well as the correct F135. Transmission andtransfer have been pulled and stored away since I have never seen any three speed older or newer style that as clean as this one. No wear at all on first gear. Just to bad the rest of the vehicle was that clean. :crybaby:

In case you were curious, boys (or have already figured it out) - it does have the centered rear axle and left apron air intake.

John anwered the reason we knew it had the intake in post #19. With the latch as far back as it is it had to have the intake. Models with out the oil bath air cleaner even that early had the hood latches in the same location as post 61 models.

I have a spare centered diff axle for both the FJ25s and FJ40s. One thing I have always wondered is why a guy running V8 conversion with a center output transfer case just don't buy one of these. Increase the stud size for a later fine spline third. Install the disc brakes just like they do most the time with the later offset axle. Then just have three custom axle made one of the vendors who makes the harder axles. One axle shaft would work as a spare for either side. Plus no mods to the spring perchs:meh:

I almost bought this fst,61!! vin #1fj4010212,not from from this guy..

I stuffed 2 45 pickups onto my car trailer! and had no room for this guy,he was asking 2k,it was pretty much rust free, but of course missing most of the soft top stuff. He ended up selling it ,but not sure who got it.

She's home

Sean how old does a vehicle have to be to do this. I was thinking fifty years but guessing maybe less. I have a 63 as well I would like a title for. As for the one you got the title for I hope it wasn't the 62 FJ40 soft top? I know some of the history and it had a title at one time.

As for this one, when you get it torn down I would be interested if the front and rear brake drum match.

I know that it can, and will help save a few other rigs, but I still think it is too nice to part out...wish I was closer :frown:
