I have an agreed upon price with additional pictures on the way. We will see.... I was told two of the wheels are original and two are not. They are 16". Also that blinkers or turn signals had been added and it originally did not have these. The steering column is there but needs to be reinstalled. The steering wheel was not original either.

looking foward to seeing more pictures.... and a good picture of it cleaned up well :)

IMO 1st order of buisness is steering wheel and gettingh rid of the black accent colors on hinges and stuff :)

I did notice the steering column tube behind the front seats, I have some early steering boxes if you need one. Frame # Thank's, John P#3

i am curious,, so i will ask the experts. Provided the owner has the correct steering column and the correct wiper motors,,,, what do you guys think its worth? Realistically? (In todays market, in its current state.) . The owner seems like a very nice guy... Interesting history on the truck... It seems that the prices are all over the board on these things... but this thing looks really solid.. and 90% complete.. i would love to own it, I just don't want to overpay for it.. Thanks

Since the experts haven't chimed in I give you my opinion. I'm not sure of a real value. Haven't seen enough pictures of it. Not sure what is there and what is not there. If your looking to do close as possible restore then this looks like a good base to start with. Having the bows and door is a plus. If your looking to have early FJ25/FJ40 that would be cool to drive ago then it's another story. There is a 63 FJ40 for sale in the 25 classified section. Priced at $8500. Nice looking old FJ40 but enough things are no longer original. Other than bows and top those parts are much easier to find than parts for a FJ25. The rear license plate bracket doesn't appear to be there on the 25. I would rate that as one of the worst things Toyota ever put on a Land Cruiser. Don't have to be four wheeling to bend it. Someone walking thru a parking lot could do that. But if your looking to restore then you need that. Even the FJ25 in the Toyota doesn't have the correct light on the FJ25 in the Toyota Museum in CA. Spare tire carrier on the soft top FJ25 is also a awful design. The tire carrier that mounts there was again 25 only but using a early FJ40 would not be noticed by 99% looking at it. Front bumper was not only a different design it is also a lighter gauge metal making easier to bend. Most of those were replaced over the years. FJ25 wheels were very skinny so a lot were replaced over the years. Why this one only has two is a mystery. There is a good chance the other wheels have small offset like the FJ25 but the center hole is two small to go over the front hub. I found out when I went to get my second FJ25 that even the later disc brake wheels have the wrong offset for the FJ25. So even if it's 90% the chances are the other 10% are going to be very hard to find. Last one made was in 1960 and around 220 of them ever imported. If I had the time I would think about buying it. Just to many honey-does and other projects. It is very tempting. Biggest issue is filling the extra holes in the dash. Then finding the correct parts.:hhmm:

Time to get back to my honey-do list.:bang:

you are the expert :)

In the old thread about this truck 'wesintl' hit it close .... 3k-5k for the truck

there are ALOT of unknowns with the truck .... that is unfinished... and missing stuff ... if it were done... or at least presented better.... it would give a better idea of howmuch it still needs to be done IMO

IMO it is nice enough for 5K at least as is :D

if the steering was set.... engine running... driving truck.... 10k possibly

Where is this 25 actually located? I noticed it listed on the Flagstaff Craigslist the other day???

http://flagstaff.craigslist.org/cto/4234747624.html

That is the same 25 but I doubt it's in Flagstaff. If you look at the link to the other thread it was in NM when it was listed on eBay years ago. Guessing it still is. Area code is 505 which isn't AZ but could be a cell phone. If it was in Flagstaff I would probably go take a look. But $16,000 is more than I'm willing to pay for a FJ25 and I probably have all the missing parts. This is either going to be restored and be worth more or end up as a high price driver. If anyone has contacted the seller and has good better pictures it would be nice if they were posted here.

Overton ... If you do windup buying this truck there are always parts that come up for sale... The hardest thing is the soft top... But... One day it will get made

I think it is a great looking truck... Would love to see how it looks ... Washed LOL

My goal with this truck (if I buy it) it is to build a cage around it and load giant pontoons on top that can quickly be installed like outriggers in case we have a Tsunami here in Iowa. :steer:

The hardest thing is the soft top

I disagree Johnny. $3K and you can get a top. No FJ25 Wheels, steering wheel, front bumper, turn signal switch, rear license plate bracket, rear Toyota emblem, rear jump seats and I'm sure more non are currently available for sale. Other than the bumper which was used on the few 61 FJ40 imported here the rest were FJ25 only.

I just got home from buying a hood for my 69 from this guy. I got a peek at this FJ25 it is a beauty. I didn't look super close as it was getting dark and cold in his storage area. He's a good guy and I think the price is relative to what its worth. I'd love to own that rig.

LITP there you go with all those negative waves... All he needs to do is buy a few donor vehicles and whalaaa complete truck :)

That really hurts Johnny.:crybaby: Maybe if I smoking what Donald Sutherland was in that movie I won't have all these negative waves. It's funny because it's legal in AZ if you have a prescription, then if there isn't a dispensary within twenty-five miles you can grow your own. Not that far from our home up they have found at least three crops being grown by the cartels from south of border so the climate is right. No dispensary within twenty-five miles.:hhmm: I could see my honey-do list getting done a lot quicker smoking that all day.

I guess I'm just trying to get across any possible buyer should understand what there are getting into. Like was mentioned these are a awesome occasional driver. Everybody complains about the early FJ40 brakes these are worse. A granny four speed with non synchronized first and second gears. This is a non running cruiser. If there are issues with the transmission or transfer case it can be fixed but not as easy as a H42 which the easiest way is just buy a used one. I believe at one time SOR had one listed for sale but like everything else it's not cheap. It's more than their used H42s which most people find for a fraction their price. For $16K you can probably find a nice later model FJ40 which is much nicer drivers. Compare the unfinished 62 FJ40s. The unfinished soft top was priced much less then the hard top which has sold. The soft top was further along then this one but had a few updates biggest being the H42 instead of the original three speed. The big money seems to be in as close to original as possible. To do that on this one your going to need to come up with some pretty rare parts. I tempted by this one mainly because I have most this parts from creating my own junk yard. Compared to some of the pieces of junk I've picked up along the west coast this one is next door. I haven't called and the pictures and description are pretty vague. How many of the little treasures are there would set the price. 90% stock doesn't mean much when the other 10% are the same 10% that is missing from most other 25s and others are searching for the same parts.

That is my .02 on this

To be quite honest about a few things. This guy does not know landcruisers very much at all. He is under the impression that this is 1 of 4 or 6 total in the US. He has a 72 and has sold a 77. Both the other trucks were in rough shape. He bought the 25 because he knew that it was special didn't know how rare til someone told him (exaggerated) it was. He is keeping the 72. He is a collector as he has many other autos of all types. Some are outside some are under car covers and some are in a very large garage that has holes in the roof. This is where the 25 is stored. It is in a nice spot and dust really is the only issue as here in new mexico rust is very slow because the air is so dry. Like I said he is a collector and has some gems, but also has a bunch of junk too. His house and garage are in need of serious attention and this is why he is choosing to sell the 25 he wants to put a new roof on his house and trust me it needs it. He sold me a split hood with no hardware but the spray nozzles and the chrome hood ordainment for $80 no rust and no dents. That is an outstanding price not to mention I didn't have to ship it just had to drive an hour each way. I see the price people are looking to fetch in TODAYS market for all sorts of cruisers and like I said I think the price he is asking is relative to what this truck is and what is out there. I think it will be a bit of a task if not impossible to finish 100% but that doesn't change the fact that it is a 25 and it is in fantastic shape. And the guy just needs a roof its not like hes Jay Leno.
