Has anyone successfully put 15" steel wheels on their FZJ80? I know people are going to tell me no, only the fj80.

I would just like to know if it is possible with clearencing calipers?

I know people run 15" wheels on D60 fronts with this method

Are our 4 piston calipers just too large?

Reason I ask is that I already have 35's on 15" aluminum wheels on my taco, I'd like to use these tires on steel wheels (thinner/more clearance for calipers) on my LC and don't wanna buy a set or grind my calipers if it's not possible.

Thank you in advance,
Shane

IIRC it's been done, but every wheel is slightly different so you're pretty much on your own. You could try taking the truck to the wheel dealer and test fit one, see how much needs to be clearanced.

Thank you, I will do that, I didn't know if a particular BS would work better than another.

I did some test fits with a club members 96 FZJ80 in my driveway. The AR767 rims that I run on my 91 fit OK on the front, but contacted the calipers in the rear. We both elected not to grind so a second set of tires/wheels was sourced.

I've got 15's on my 93, but I think the key factor is that I have drums in the rear. You might be able to do it if you run wheel spacers, but I am no expert. I think the test fitting idea the best. Good luck.

Im with Master Blaster...
I was able to put some aluminum 15" wheels on my FZJ80, I have the Rear drums

With the proper backspacing, you can fit 15's. If you're desperate, you can fit wheel spacers. I have a friend who put spacers on his FZJ to fit 15's.

I hear oe fj60 steel wheels fit....... I know my taco steelies dont..........

Whats the proper bs?

I have a 93 w rear discs and I can get the 15" steel wheel onto the studs in the rear but the wheel contacts the caliper. This prevents you from sliding the wheel on all the way.

One dude ground his down but after reading the post I dont think I'm gonna go anywhere near that mod.
