Trying to decide if I want to go one tons or not and the decider is going to be if I can get away with the driveline angle from the stock 92fj80 tcase to the 14bolt? I am thinking the stock tank would still work cause the 14bolt pinion is offset to the passanger side enough and I don't think the angle would be too much different then stock, but I don't want to tear the axles out and stick the tons in only to find the driveshaft is hitting the stock tank and then have to buy a 1000 dollar rear tank not knowing if it will vibrate like a mofo at speed. This is going to still be drivin on the road alot. What do you guys think? I would stick with stock axles, but they are non locked non full float and would need upgraded anyway and I already have the 1tons and they have better brakes are stronger and will add width and stability well you get the point.

Me, id do 1 Tons in a heart beat, no questions..

Definitely 1 ton. If you are in the Northenr CA area I have a 14 bolt axle complete and clean inside the garage ready to build :)

I already have the 1ton axles, links, brackets, and tabs waiting to go I just don't know if I want to ditch the stock tcase to run a centered transfercase which I also have (doubled up np203/205). I am wondering if I can run the stock rear driveshaft from a stock transfercase over to a 14bolt without getting a bunch of vibration?

If you decide to go with 1 ton axles, I'd ditch the stock tcase since that will be your weak link, but since you intend to drive your Cruiser on the street, I'd keep the stock tcase and stock axles until you decide what to do.

You'll still end up spending some money on custom driveshafts when go with 1 tons axles.

What is keeping you from installing the 203/205?

See the posts below under axle pitfalls - or see Freds40 build (might actually be for his 60?) - one of the better pictorials on how to mod a 14 bolt for an offset t-case.

It really depends on your desired tire size, budget & if you want to keep the stock tcase. Cheapest route is to cut down the 14 bolt on the pass side, give it a massive shave for ground clearance, order a custom shaft & weld & redrill the hubs for 6 lug. Make sure your wheel center will fit over the 14 bolt hub. If you swap in the 1 tons, I wouldn't use an offset tcase for highway driving.

I should probally go out and buy a low milage 4l80E put a manual valvebody in it and connect it on one end to the np203/205 doubler other end to a 6.2 diesel stick the 1tons in it and be done for ever, but I hate to beat up a fj80 body for some reason? Its like there is some kind of stigmata attached to destroying an 80 on the trails. I should probally just leave it stock except for the 6.2 and build a buggy or build a toy pickup with my parts and leave the 80 for family haulin and camping and s*** like that?

Prolly a better way to go. I wouldn't want to try & recoupe $$$ on a bashed up bodied FJ80. I'd build a smaller rig w/ less body panels, more tube & the 1 tons. Why not keep the 6.2 & add a Banks turbo kit?

Well I don't really ever plan on selling the cruiser, now that I have worked my way to the pinacle of off road trucks I don't ever want to come down. I am kinda thinking about buying my wife a fzj80 with lockers & leather, but the gas miliage thing makes me want to keep her in a car unless I stick a diesel in it too. I am wanting to start brewing biodiesel, I have a group of people that would be down to split cost on the equipment & time so diesel engines are looking real good. Right now my wife is driving my 2002 jetta 1.8t, I am trying to talk her into letting me get here a tdi car of the same model, but she says there too small. I might get one anyway they are getting pretty cheap and get 45-50mpg. I am so torn on what to do I might be moving in about a year or so and would be living in an apartment so that kinda makes me want to just stuff all the stuff in the cruiser and be done with it or sell it and pay some bills off. If you guys could live anywhere in the US where would it be? I am kinda thinking of going up to Oregon, everytime I see pics I wanna go real bad.

i have a couple late 80s blazers here for parts and both rear driveshafts are offset to one side .they are not straight.its not much but enough to notice when you look at them with the body off the frame .
