Anyone have thoughts on running 14" wide tires on 8" wide wheels? I have them on 10" now but have a set of 8s id like to use.

Just some personal experience.. I ran 35-12.50's on 7" wheels on a Tacoma for many years with no problems on or off the road. Actual cross widths vary quite a bit from the stated figures as I'm sure you know.

They did seem to balance better on a balancer that uses the studs rather than the centering cone.

Good Luck. Jason

I'm guessing your talking about swampers. From what I have seen you have to be careful when aired down to keep enough air to keep it from breaking a bead.

yeah, my old swampers seemed to like about 15psi, anything more and they weren't worth a damn. but they were 9.50's on a 5.5" wheel.

I have run 33x12.5 and 36x12.5 on 8 and 10" wheels and liked the 8s better but i thought id be pushing my luck with 14" wide tires. i guess i just wanted someone to tell not to do it so i wouldnt try it.

Do It. :steer:

I think it will work fine. I am hoping going 33 x 10.5 on my 5.5 inch stockers on the "Gazoo" will be alright. I know some guys do it with success and with the33 x 9.5 being hard to find that is the next best thing for stockers.

I ended up using the 10s. The 8"ers made the center tread stick up real high and looked kinda funny

My brother went with the 10.50 instead of the 9.50. The 9.50 would have been way too skinny
