13BT clutch recomendations?

Can anyone suggest a good heavy duty clutch to suit a 13BT? Car is pretty much dedicated offroad use and gets worked hard, engine puts out lots of torque, current clutch is a 4 terrain which has crapped itself after only 50,000km. Looking at a safari tuff?
 
Had some very good experience with exedee clutches, before changing to automatic....
 
I had heaps of clutch slippage problems with the 350 chev in my 40 series cruiser, in the end I got an 11" centreforce pressure plate from the states and put that in with an 11" dual friction cruiser clutch plate and it holds up real tight with 35" tyres and both diff locks in, its got counter weights on the diaphram so the faster it spins the more it clamps down... well worth considering mate :hillbilly:

I fitted a safari tuff clutch to my 75 series 18mths ago, given it a caning , swinging 35s, towing boats and my camper ..... Also driven daily back and forth to work here in Brisbane . Can't fault it man.... Very happy I went safari! I think they are very proven mate!

I'd suggest the Exedy Safari Tuff - put one in my HJ61 and then immediately drove it 5,000 kms to Death Valley, around all over the place, and then back over the Christmas break. Great clutch, very smooth, very strong - heavy pedal even with the vacuum assist.

Talk to Roodogs - Trev - at the Melbourne Super Store and tell him 'John from Canada' recommended you call.

Make sure who ever does your flywheel puts the proper step into it, lately we've seen a few machined flat and it really doesn't work well that way... at all.

I have the exedy sports tuff and Ive done 80000klms with that and it still feels like the day I put it in.
 
Is there a problem with the Toyota OEM clutches? John

They are ok but the Exedy in Australia has 3 advantages. One is the price,its usually $200 cheaper.
The 2nd is that on the diesel clutches they have shaped the leading edge on the lining of the clutch plate with a bevelled edge.
This is supposed to cut down on the grr grr grr diesels often get when accellerating.
I certainly noticed the difference when this one went in.
The 3rd advantage is that you can choose between 3 different levels of clutch strength.
 
Giving the Safari Tuff clutch two thumbs up atleast twice as good as my old 4 terrain clutch!

So, have you installed it and are driving around with it?

Sure am, been driving it to work this week, getting ready to take the car on a 4 day trip to the snow for queens birthday weekend.
