13B-T Not Starting??

is that they wake up one morning to find the Landcruiser doesn't want to fire. I'm fairly pedantic when it comes to accuracy in film and attention to detail and so I want a problem with the 13B-T that would stop it from firing. I'm thinking something that can't be fixed on the side of the road, perhaps something that requires parts? Parts that you wouldn't normally carry. And not something cliche'd like a flat battery.

That's simple... Failure to function with the fuel and air shut-off VSV because it's bolted to the side of the block where it gets too hot. The truck won't start unless the vac line is pulled off the actuator butterfly valve in the turbo pipe to bypass the VSV. The VSV isn't a common part one might have along. The quick fix was to remove the bolt that secures the VSV to the block and pull the VSV closer to the firewall with mechanic's wire. This kept it cool enough to function OK.

A sticky VSV isn't exactly life threatening. I go through it on a weekly basis. Un plug vac hose at VSV > start car > drive to destination > turn off at key > pop bonnet and pull stop lever > replace vac hose and hope you don't have to go through it all again for the drive home. On the odd occasion the VSV shuts the engine off while driving around town. Not life threatening unless it happened at a crazy speed coming up to an intersection or something.

Any update on the movie? Would be sweet to see a movie about a landcruiser. My mates and I play spot the cruiser during most movies and tv shows.

We're still in pre-production, so re-writes, storyboarding [sketches of each shot], crew selection and next week: LOCATION SCOUTING. Heading out to past Dalby. I met a bloke who's neighbour has a property that 'looks like the Never Never' or so he reckons. Aiming for production this October/November or March/April 2013 if it gets pushed back.

It won't be about a Landcruiser but it'll play a pretty big role. Plus there's another major role available for a trayback haha

I do Landcruiser spotting too. Blood Diamond was full of bloody Patrols and Hilux's! Seen any others Tim?

Just recently I watched Safehouse with Denzel Washington and they use a 79 series styleside pickup as a get away car and they manage to roll it. Thought it was pretty typical of a 70 to roll.

Easy Tim, you're in the 70 section.. ;)

I want to see that, I'll put it on the list. Denzel is the man.

Mate I've put my troopy on some dodgy angles ;) very nearly rolled my 73 series a few years ago. It teetered on two wheels for what felt like an eternity before it fell back onto all fours. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't have anything other than a leaf sprung 70 :)
