So what is the life of Synthetic rope if the vehicle is left outside here in the valley? While it's stiffer and harder to work with here in AZ steel cable will last for ever. Here is the winch on a vehicle I bought about twenty-on years ago. Most of that time I've stored it outside. I would have no problem trusting this cable. How many Synthetic rope replacements would be needed in that time period?

Based on how many times you used it a Synthetic rope would have been fine:flipoff2:

So true since I generally wheel alone I try not to get into situations I need a winch. But with how long I tend to hang on to my vehicles I would want it to work if and when I needed it.:meh: If my ARB bumper I purchased used wasn't the winch model I wouldn't have bought a electric winch for it. If this would have been available when I bought the HF 12,000# winch I would have bought this one instead. But that vehicle is kept in a insulated garage in a milder climate. Synthetic rope would last a long time. If the exhaust wouldn't need to be rerouted I would probably have gone with a PTO since I have about everything needed to install one on a FJ62.

That is the same winch harbor freight sells with a different brand. That would be a good deal.
