Hi,
Have a HJ61 vx cruiser, 12ht engine, Just went for a drive in it and the turbo seems to have stopped working. Accelerator seemed kinda stiff, turbo light wasn't coming on and way less pickup than usual.
has been raining had for past few hours. Is there a fuse? could it be an electrical short?
any help and thoughts would be much appreciated
cheers
Tim

the easiest check: look at the actuator - if rod is connected to the turbo or not. if is connected, disconnect it (not from the vacuum side!!!) and try to move the valve by hand (you have to gain access by removing some heat insulators). if not moving, use WD40 or similar products on it until you can move it by hand and without effort - it could take days, so be patient!!!. do not try to move it when connectet to the rod: it will not move. do not use any tools like hammer or wrench on the assembly - do not hit it with anything!!!

if this is the fault, it's ok. if not, it could be more expensive to repair it...
good luck

Tim,

Check if the hose between the turbo and the intake pipe isn't torn or blew off of it. Or the gasket of the intake manifold. It's rubber and could be torn apart.

Could be the wastegate to. It's kinda hard to diagnose this without driving and listening to the truck.

Anyway a turbo doesn't usually stop working from one day to another.

HTH,
Mark

tapage ive seen a waste gate stuck open lol no waste gate spring/actuator (waste gate wasnt there lol my buddy mark was puzzled till i showed him my set up) good olde ebay you gey what you buy

anyway as for the turbo could be cokeing of the bearings long story short when you shut down the turbo hot the oil cooks to the bearings making them stick, spin slower or just not turn at all
if the turbo is on pull the air cleaner side pipes and see if you can spin the turbine if no pull the turbo
be careful in spinning the turbine spin the nut not the turbine the fins on the turbine are extremly delicate they usualy break or bend
if the bearing spins a little try wd-40 like air wolf said let it sit for a while day or two keep spraying it be liberal with the lube oil
if all else fails turbo rebuild time

thanks all sorted

thanks to replies and help,
got it all sorted, actually had nothing to do with turbo. some other cables that a previous owner had put in had got in way of accelerator cable and was causing it to jam.
cheers
