What a fkn mission that was, if I never sand anything ever again I'll be a happy man:-)
Not done as good as I could have but ran out of patience (footy was starting anyway)

Yeah if I had a spare gasket I would do it, only reason I did the crossovers is that the car is down for a few days waiting for turbo oil line gaskets to arrive in the mail, I'll pick up a rocker cover gasket next time I'm in Geraldton, we've got bugger all car bits here in kalbarri, it's 160 kms from the nearest car shop

What did you use to polish those with? I like that, now I have something to do in the middle of winter!

A bit of everything, and blood, sweat, tears....
I use a flap disc (120 grit) to cut down the really heavy cast marks, then hit it with mouse/detail sander with a 80 grit pad.

One it was all relatively flat I hand sanded with wet and dry paper, 120,360,600,1200
Could not be bothered going thru to 2000 grit but that's what makes ally look like chrome when done properly.
Once the sanding was done I hit it with a spiral sown buffing wheel with a bit of the brown cutting compound (tripoli I think it's called) then the blue compound for the final buff.
It's not hard just takes fkn ages lol

Another tip, have the garden Hose just trickling constantly while hand sanding and also have little squirty bottle with water and dishwashing liquid in it, makes it easier to sand, glides a lot better

Labor of love! I bet about half way into the first one you said "wtf did I get my self into!"

I originally bought my polishing kit to do a set of heavily stuffed ally rims that are on my 60 now and they took a lot of work, hit them with oven cleaner to start on them lol, so yeah I'm a glutton for punishment it seems, too much spare time on my hands :-)

I got the gaskets today I've been waiting for since Thursday...... Well half of them, they didn't bother to call me and tell me the coolant gaskets for the turbo where out of stock and needed to be ordered in.
Fkn ordered them on Thursday......
Breathe out........
They are getting some up overnight so I put a rocker gasket on the list too so ill polish that bugger too, then no more polishing I promise :-)

Looks awesome mate. Want to hope your engine bay is fairly sealed or you love maintenance polishing lol
