Hey Guys hoping one of you 12ht/vacuum guru's can help me out.

I've just replaced all my vacuum lines, a bunch were plumbed up wrong, cold start fast idle, power steering idle up and air-conditioning idle up didn't work.

Hopefully I've fixed those problems but I can't work out what this vacume lime does.
It's plumbed into the bottom of the fuel pump primer. It is plumbed off the back of the alternator so it should be under vacume.
There is no mention of it in the diagram and I can't find any info on it online.

Is it sposed to be there?? What does it do?? The photos arnt great but hopefully someone can make sense of them. It was hooked up previously but like I said a bunch of hoses were connected incorrectly from previous owner.

The 1st picture is from the top of the engine looking down. The second one is from underneath the car looking up.

Odd.. is that port on the inlet pump banjo actually open to anything? The 2H one provides a fuel return for the injector spill line but the 12HT generally has a return to tank line..

Some of those banjos have that prong off them - and its not open to anything at all. A visual inspection would confirm. There's absolutely zero reason for a vacuum line to be attached there.

That's what I'm thinking. I can't come up with a reason why that pump would need vacume and I can't find a single thing online about it.

Maybe that fitting is for another application on a different engine or something. I'll look again tomorrow and see if it is just blanked off behind the fitting.

It's just odd that it was plumbed in previously. But at the same time every single fitting on the engine was plumbed into the vacume. So maybe the previous owner didn't realise they weren't all supposed to connected.

If it appears to be blanked I'll just disconnect it and see what happens. The simpler this vacume system the better!

Thanks for your help!

That is just a prong which should help you putting the hose port in the right orientation it can also prevent it from turning while you tighten / loosening them, but I would'nt rely on that being quite a long one. Those are found on other banjo fittings around the engine.
