I'm putting a CB in my truck this week. Why is there a 54" height limit on CB antenna. I was going to order a 60" (5') Firestick but remembered seeing the 4.5' limit. Will anyone really measure?

We just don't want the silly long antennas that whip around and poke someone's eye out. I'm sure there is no problem with a 60" firestick

True that. The shop i am going through had a 102" whip that I thought might be good for fishin' but ridiculous for vehicle use. Thanks.

See you in Moab!

Long whips rock! (On HAM equipment, that is)

Guess that means I'll be watching you guys drive by. :flipoff2:

My HF Amateur antenna whip is 2600MM long, plus a 1000MM mast. Yes, I did talk to Europe two Moabs ago from Hells Kitchen on the Elephant Hill run. I don't use mine for fishin...

E.T. Phone-Home?

Either firestick should be OK, but the CM 2011 Tech Check in guide asks the following:
Antenna Length 54” max.or attached to vehicle both ends

The honest answer is safety, like Far said...

Nice to see you in the 100 forum. Welcome.

NO! Get out of the 100 forum. Go fishin'!. :flipoff2:

See you in Moab.

I opted for a magnetic rooftop mount with a hard witerd cobra hand held,as I think I will mount my firestick on my rear bumper when I get it finally.

Pre ran some of the trails to get ready for CM11 this past weekend. We had a great time and got a lot of the trail leaders together to make this year even better than the last. Pic is on Cliff Hanger. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone there. Sounds like 21 rigs have signed up for Porcupine. Sweet!

Oh buddy...Cliff Hanger is a good one! Put a cramp on my solidarity for a day or so, but I'd do it again. It's not the falling down that obstacle that is daunting, it's getting back up it!

How old are your kids Far? Thinking of bringing wife & kids ( 2&4yo) first cruise moab for me.

A couple of photos from CM 2010, don't miss Cruise Moab.
First photo: The 7 100s after Fins n Things.

Second photo: My favorite photo of CM 2010, Far's wife taking the kids down a big ledge on Poison Spider.

my kids are 5 and 6. I had them on the pre run with me while my wife had a weekend to herself. CM is a great time for kids. Bike, lizards, trucks, princesses. For sure bring kids. There are plenty of wives there too. I host a hot wing cook off Thursday evening about dark. Please stop by my campsite and introduce yourself.

To totally rub it in. I can be in Moab in under 4 hours. 4.5 with kids.

While our club does not do a later in the year Moab trip. We do go many other places and we are always happy to have people come along. See Rising Sun's website for more into.
