100 too tall for my wife?

I don't recall anyone saying that they were ideal but worked somewhat better than no running boards. My wife complained when I took the running boards off. When I put my sliders on, no more complaining, problem solved.

Has anyone actually read this thread form top to bottom? Am I the only one that thinks this thread is somewhat opinionated and useless? We are talking about steps into a luxury off road vehicle. If you guys are actually looking for answers, have your wives/ girlfriends post up what they think...

You are right. I apologize for getting sidetracked while trying to give the OP another option that I was considering that may help him out. Opinions- yes. That's what he asked for.

Good topic...my wife also complains about jumping in and out of the Cruiser. I have 285's but no lift...yet. I figure when I get the small lift I want, I might also need to come up with some kind of step.
I've seen the cheap bolt-on steps, but they will drag/break if I do much wheeling, so back to the drawing board.
Has anybody seen a "cable" style step? I'm not sure where I've seen them, or what they were on, but seems like two 1" or thicker steel cable crimped onto a bolt on bracket w/ a steel bar for a step could be just what we need. It would give a little if hit off road and not break or cause you to high center.
Maybe I've seen them on tractors? I'll search now and try to find a link...

It became much easier for my wife when she used the grab holds on the ceiling

Very understanding of you. The point is, I'm being nice since I prefer we take the 100 because it's safer. Seeing as how she is carrying our child, having a tough time of it, and has had a major surgery while pregnant I don"t think I'll say "too bad." I'll leave the running boards on until sliders arrive or she recovers.

Anyways, as I said, in my opinion the sliders or running boards are too high- not because they are too high to step up from the ground, but because they are not low enough to step comfortably from them into the cab. I end up not using them at all. Luckily I'm tall, but I'm wearing the seat out faster "sliding" in. My .02.

Awww come on, i'm was nice.;) i had gave her choice of cars to buy, and she wanted the audi in consideration of our family needs. she has her car to use and in my opinion, it really is safer than the cruiser from a preventive aspect. its handles better at all speeds, brakes faster, responses quickly,, moves lanes quicker, infinitely more stable, less likely to tip or critically lose control in an emergency manoeuvre, more advanced airbags and AWD. From a accident recovery perspective, it has advanced crumple zones, immediate emergency notification in an accident, etc. the cruiser is big and cumbersome and less advanced collision avoidance and recovery systems, but if you do get into a serious accident, i'd rather my family be in the cruiser. From a preventive aspect, the audi wins hands down.

I think in your case, the LX would have been more convenient for your wife with the AHC as the sliders are tucked up pretty high up.

Come on.... the 100 section needs the fire.... ok... ive had a few.

Jonathan, we are in the 100 Series tech board. This is about as tech as it gets over the past few months!

Since nobody suggested it yet:
Instead of spending money on steps etc, why not spend some on getting the wifey fit and agile; seeing that children have no problem climbing in and out.
Low-tech solution:)
