Ok I haven't lifted my 100 yet but :princess: still can't get in easily does anyone have any suggestions? I am getting the step sliders from Slee but is that going to be enough? I took the running boards off and she nearly shot me.

I still have the running boards on. Wife is pregnant and the running boards are a bit tall even when she's not with child... I was planning to do step sliders, but maybe without the center brace and modify some auto running boards that tuck up higher than the sliders. Dunno. But both the running boards and step sliders are useless as steps in my opinion. They are too high. Once you are standing on them it's like trying to slide into a low slung sports car. An auto step that comes down about 6" lower would be ideal, as long as it tucked up out of the way.

My wife is 5'7 and pregnant and has no problems getting into our cruiser. we've got a 2.5 inch lift running 33's.. it doesn't have sliders yet, but i took off the running boards as they just get in the way and look silly - she hated the truck without running boards but too bad; marriage is a compromise and i'll work with her elsewhere. Sliders will be on it before too long anyway, besides, this isn't a prius so no point in treating it like one. the truck build is a constant conversation of trying to help her understand the importance of building the truck as my hobby, albeit, a friggen pricey one.

i suppose i should add -not being a hard ass but we have a perfectly new audi for her to drive around in if she doesn't like it.. however, she likes driving the cruiser and being up high.. personally, physics wins every time so i'm glad she's in the cruiser.

Every individual will have a different perspective as it pertains to them personally.... But, my four year old daughter has no problem climbing in and out of my rig. It has been lifted a little over 2.5" and I have the Slee slider steps.

Very understanding of you. The point is, I'm being nice since I prefer we take the 100 because it's safer. Seeing as how she is carrying our child, having a tough time of it, and has had a major surgery while pregnant I don"t think I'll say "too bad." I'll leave the running boards on until sliders arrive or she recovers.

Anyways, as I said, in my opinion the sliders or running boards are too high- not because they are too high to step up from the ground, but because they are not low enough to step comfortably from them into the cab. I end up not using them at all. Luckily I'm tall, but I'm wearing the seat out faster "sliding" in. My .02.

You could run a lower profile tire....the earlier UZJ100's were equped with 16's.

Not the best option but the LX470 drops 1.5" when you put it in park.

Maybe a lower "hoop" could be welded onto the slider?

I asked my wife and she says the running boards are useless and she doesn't use them. She said what really helps is when I use the AHC to lower the vehicle.

My 100 has a lift with Slee step sliders and my wife is 4' 11"...she has no problem getting in the LC.

I was thinking about those electric steps like ICON uses for his builds but $1700 per set seemed a bit too much for what you get. any thoughts on those?

wife is driving the 100 at the moment, she's around 5' 7''. 100 has the 2.5'' slee medium kit, running 33s on 18'' wheels, white knuckle sliders. She gets both our little ones, ages 1 and 2, in and out with no problems and dad is happy knowing they are in a safe vehicle.

Only problem I have is getting my 100 back!

I have a folding step stool for my elderly 5'2 aunt. Fits snug right at the door frame :) Feels safer for me she doesn't fall out the damn truck

Please don't suggest that this is even remotely possible to my wife, but it seems that you could fabricate some sort of bracket on the passenger side slider for something like this:

It would need to be able to flip up and out of the way if it gets bumped (or spring load it) and/or be relatively easy to remove for any sort of wheeling.

The slee step sliders are tucked up a bit higher than the stock running boards, not sure if that will make things better or worse than what you had. It will certainly be better than nothing.

I wouldn't over complicate the entry/egress of the vehicle, if running boards or step sliders don't solve your problem you'll either have to replace the vehicle or the wife. :)

Wow, all your wives are so much more nimble than mine....

Anyways, I was thinking of getting amp research steps and cutting them down to fit between slider outriggers. I figure you could add a switch in the cab to cut power to the steps when not needed/wanted. $$$$, though. You could also easily mod a single hoop step that attached to the slider and was easily removeable. The power steps might be expensive, but cheaper than new driver seat leather all the time.

Totally disagree. Unless you wheel everyday, things like ingress/ egress are an important part of the experience the vehicles gives you. Heck, a lot of folks spend way more rigging up a fridge to keep their beer cold. Necessary?? I think it's worth it to spend a bit of time and money there. After all, this is supposed to be a high end comfy vehicle. And I call bs on anyone of average stature who claims the sliders or running boards are ideal height. They are a couple inches below the rocker panel. It's like trying to sit in a car that's frame is sitting on the ground. Of course you can do it, "no problem," but it's far from ideal.

I don't recall anyone saying that they were ideal but worked somewhat better than no running boards. My wife complained when I took the running boards off. When I put my sliders on, no more complaining, problem solved.

Has anyone actually read this thread form top to bottom? Am I the only one that thinks this thread is somewhat opinionated and useless? We are talking about steps into a luxury off road vehicle. If you guys are actually looking for answers, have your wives/ girlfriends post up what they think...

Since I've taken the running boards off, for my little daughters I tied some rope to the overhead handle so they can grab on easier and pull themselves in. Maybe something like that or a strap would be helpful for her?
