I searched and could not find the answer to this, so here is a picture of the location. Find where you put in the thermostat and follow the pipe straight back and the sensor is the first one you come to with the green top. You will need a 19mm deep socket, which is the type of socket you use to remove spark plugs. Good luck.

Thank you for the write up @djernie. The old sensor do not look good. What prompt you to replace the sensor? Or was it just part of regular maintenance?

I was on a road trip and the engine light came on for about a minute and then cut off. After that i noticed the temperature gauge raising up near the red. I found an auto zone in the town of the highway near where i was traveling. Asked them to check to see if that light may have left a code and it did it was code - P0115. Auto zone did not have the sensor so i went to a toyota dealer in the same area and they would have had to order it. So i decided to hot wire my electric fan with a switch that i can turn on and off, and go on to my destination.

Wat are the part numbers for these? My temp gauge stopped working after replacing timing belt and waterpump etc. discovered that i accidently damaged the plug on top of the sensor

One great thing about Toyota is most all of the wires are separate from the plug, meaning you can depin the wires and they will click into another plug. Sometimes finding the part number is a challenge, but I’ve always had luck with my local dealers parts department finding it.

Ballenger part number for the single wire sensor that goes to the dash gauge. Mine was damaged so I was not getting a temp reading.
