Hello everyone. Newbie here to LC life. Quick question and I'm sure its been answered here before. Recently got a 2000 100. Looking to get some new tires and rims. I've seen a lot of Jeep Wrangler 255/75/17's on sale for craigslist with good tires. Set of 5 for less than $500 for basically brand new tires. Would like some thoughts? Too skinny?

seems a little on the skinny side. My truck has 275's on it, most people run 285 to 295's

The FAQ doesn't really cover this question - he's specifically asking if the tire size he's looking at will be too skinny on his 100. But yeah, great way to welcome the new guy by just throwing the FAQ link at him. :bang:

To the OP: 255s might look pretty skinny on your 100, but it's really all a question of taste/what you're personally looking for. If you're looking for skinny, 255s would probably work. If you're trying to go bigger, I'd look more towards the 285/75/16 size, since they are typically the biggest you can fit on the 100 without a lift.

I have no clue what bolt pattern the Jeep Wranglers have, but I doubt they'll fit on a 100 series.

255 is on the skinny side, but that's not a bad size of tire overall, I ran that size on my 4th gen 4 Runner. The price is appealing, but assuming you can afford it, I would spend the money on what you really need/want. I like going with larger tires, and those Jeep take offs might not be what you want (they will probably be the Wrangler SRAs or the Mud Terrains, the basic tires are just street tires and the MTs are louder and rougher than some people like). Also, if they are 17" that means you will have to buy wheels, when it would probably be cheaper to buy the 16" tires that are the best for you and not worry about everything else. Just my $.02

Off topic but anyone have a good suggestion for a leveling kit? Don't really need the Old Man Emu lift kit. Just want a more leveled look. Not going hard core off road. Just light mudding and snow.

Your LC has torsion bars. You can adjust the front height with the 2 bolts (one on each side) under the truck. From other threads, the LC needs some rake to it to handle properly.

Actually, it gives him exactly the info he needs in regards to tire sizes, bolt patterns and "leveling kits". Jeep tires are the wrong size and load range, have different bolt patterns 5x5.5 for the JK/JL vs 5x150 for the 100 and there isn't a leveling kit for torsion bar'd vehicles. All 101 level stuff on the forum and been covered 100000000000x times. This is a very helpful, welcoming forum, but we normally point to answers that have been covered. Thanks though.

Just to be clear...Jeep wheels will not fit on a 100 Series Land Cruiser.

The tires are another subject.

No, you're totally right. Simply posting a link to a page with a ton of info and absolutely no additional guidance is super helpful and welcoming. Thanks though.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I just wanted to save some money. 285 KO2's will cost over $1200 installed. $450 for 5 rims and tires on the 255s. But yea it would probably look too skinny.

I have 265/75/16s on mine and they look just fine.

I am planning to sell my Falken Wildpeak AT3 with about 5000 miles soon. They are 265/70/16 30" nominal size. I am switching to 33" tires to get additional clearance.
PM me if that is something you would be interested in.

5 bolt pattern

JK Wranglers are 5 x 5 bolt pattern, which is 5 x 127, so they won't fit. My suggestion is to get some 18" Tundra wheels. There is a serious glut of take-off Tundra wheels, tires and wheels with tires - often at good prices. A lot of the tires are going to be 255/70/18 which I think are fine for a series 100. Others will be 275/65/18.

Keep an eye out for deals, I bought 4 KO2 (285/16) from discount tire direct on eBay, and total was $600 out the door just for the tires.

@TXLX100 - Thats a great deal on KO2's did you get them on black Friday? wondering where you saw that deal and where/when should I be looking for a deal with Discount Tire or whoever. I would buy the KO2's in a heart beat for that price.

Think I saw it here or in a email. Looks like you can go to discount tire direct eBay site and sign up for email deals
