Another way to go. I wanted to be able to carry full sheets of plywood, tree tools, and my cataraft frame (not all at the same time!) up top in a manner that I felt was secure.

I'm doing something very similar but my crossbars are only 45"ish because I'm reusing them from an earlier diy set up using the factory load bars. Now I'm running an 80" 15 series load bar front to back on each side with the gamiviti towers, like the picture above, but I'm struggling with how I want to attach the towers to the load bars. (cross bars aren't long enough to attach them to the towers on all six towers) I'm considering drilling a hole through the 80/20 and dropping my t-nut into the top slot rather than the bottom so that I would at least have 6 bolts that would have to shear in case of a wreck for the rack to go flying forward rather than just friction, IDK, any thoughts?

I'm having some trouble visualizing what you're thinking of doing. Have you considered using a joining plate? Such as (JP-015-J) 15 Series 5 Hole TEE Joining Plate | TNUTZ | TNUTZ - https://www.tnutz.com/product/jp-015-j/

My 80" load bars need to be attached to the towers. I could just use a t nut, in the bottom side of the load bar and bolt from the bottom of the tower, but then think about pushing that load bar to the front of my vehicle (slamming the brakes on, for example), the load bars are going to want to slide off the towers, to the front of my LC. It's just the friction between the t nut and the load bar keeping it all in place. If instead I bolt "through" the load bar by drilling a hole from the bottom slot to the top slot, and run a longer bolt from the tower to a t nut on top of the load bar, now if I slam the brakes on, the bolt is taking the shear force instead of the tnut friction.

Most of you guys are bolting the towers to the cross bars, so this isn't a problem.

Message me if anyone needs some stock roof rack cross bars / parts. These came off yesterday. Kinda crazy how strong these stock cross bars actually are, I can easily walk across them.

Do you still have the covers?

Sorry folks I held on to mine for a while with no interest and then brought them to the dump.
