anybody have any thoughts on whether or not the stock midpipes from an 04 would work on my 06?

Only thing I can think of that might cause an issue would be some small difference due to the 06 having VVTI?

Just brainstorming...

Are you having issues again? I thought you bought midpipes

Sent from my iPad using IH8MUD

Officially broken in.

Try the spark plug non foulers....they would be in the help section in autozone...they pull the 02 sensor out of direct flow and have worked on many other rigs. I was hoping the midpipes worked for you. I an tired of the cats rattling on our 100

Get an O2 simulator.

Just ordered new O2 sensor to replace the one that keeps throwing the code. If that doesn't work simulator is next.

The cats have already turned black on them. They are not quality. And EMS won't answer the phone or emails. $$ wasted.

I've got a few things in the works anyway, might pick up an '04 or '05 and move all my stuff to it, take the 06 back to stock, and get rid of it. Sucks cause I know this particular issue is self made...

Bomar...THANKS for the contact info.

Spoke to Bak, new set of pipes/cats coming. I know I'll have to stay on him, but I'll call every day until he sends them!

If still throwing codes after this...pretty sure I'm moving out of the '06.

Nice to hear you got in touch with him. I am sure it will take awhile but maybe it will be right.

What codes were you throwing on the way out West?

If you're selling, swap your good parts to a $10k 100 and buy yourself a LS to cruise around in. :steer:

Andy-
I am really surprised your OEM exhaust would have issues.
My 99 is still quite and solid after 15yrs/65K and this should be a lifetime part.
Even if I had issues, I would probably go OEM for replacement parts.

The guy at EMS is a nice guy, met him at K2 one year.
I had the EMS exhaust on my 80 and would never go back to their stuff again.
Just too many bugs and too loud for my liking.

edit: dibs on your slimline, if you sell :smokin::zilla:

Just a single O2 on the trip out. I thought about doing that...but I'm not a car guy at all. This is the first non-truck I've ever had.

I went back and forth on what to do a bunch of times. Kept throwing codes for a month on the OEM stuff, saying clogged cats. Had it checked at two dealerships. Both said it was rare, but both recommended replacing with OEM stuff. $2000 installed.

SO I ordered EMS midpipes. Worked fine for a month or two AND performance was greatly improved. But went back to throwing O2 and clogged codes once or twice a month now.

Baktash suggested on the phone that the truck was probably running too rich, and he's right, the exhaust does smell WAY too rich. I've changed out the rear O2 sensors...is there anything else (other than changing the front sensors) that i could check about the richness?

And if i sell...I'm getting an 04-05, so the rack gets moved over

Sounds like your exhaust was never the problem from the beginning.
No idea what would make it run rich, except the O2 sensors or maybe coils???

I'll check my FSM when I go out to the shop.

That's one of the things I have brewing. Nick is checking out an 04 with 90k miles in ATL for me tomorrow. If he gives it thumbs up, will think hard about just buying it and moving all my upgrade parts over, taking my 06 back to stock.

If not, will keep going down the road with the 06...it's just been one thing after another with this truck, and it's not supposed to be this way with a 100.

does the 04 still have the AHC?

If got another it would be a 98/99... I love the dials and no electric dash...ohhh the dial also

I wish Georgle would SAS his and then want more to practice on. I loved driving back from there.
