Mine did this and it was the battery. Chris had issues with his series 31 Die Hard at one point. Had a bad cell I think.

When my G 31 plat went out it was reading low voltage. I took it to Sears, they tested it and agreed that it was bad. This may be a different mode of battery failure however.

If a cell is dead you should not get a reading of 14 volts unless you are measuring with the truck running.

Did they have the starter issue resolved by '06 or are they all the same? My 2000 has started doing the exact same thing in this cold weather, but I just assumed it was time for me to perform the starter replacement.......battery shows good. (Sometimes, mine won't even turn over the engine; however, if I try starting it enough, it'll eventually turn over and start. Warm weather: starts like a champ).......still thinking it's most likely starter contacts.

At least the starter is easy to change on these....

I had issues with my heavy ass sears bat. Didn't hold up. Sad...

Did Sears load test it or just check the voltage? One bad cell can cause this.

#1 do a real load test with a carbon pile those electronic testiest don`t truly do that

#2 remove & clean terminals and main ground points

#3 red tops do to like modern aka computer vehicles they don`t stand up to the drain that is inherent

#4 if ya still want to run them then put a battery cut off in to completely disconnect it from vehicle

#5 hope it`s not the starter remember it is under the intake makes the PHH a walk in the park.
