SUCK......sorry Andy

Atleast the house sold!!!

Yes. Drive it in 4. Peel the F out.

I'm on my mobile but I bet you could find the transmission ratios.

Post them up. I bet "4" is a bit of an overdrive.

I was actually just looking at this. I've attached the pic of the manual. It refers to using 4 for engine braking (which I've done before in the snow in other vehicles I've owned). If I've kept it in 4 would it try to slow the car instead of coasting?

I will look into the ratios. I believe it is a 7 speed transmission, but I'm guessing some of those are overdrive gears.

So 4th is your "drive" gear.

Strongest gear. No overdrive.

OD is 100% not needed for anything but marginal fuel mileage gains.

Try it.

I drive mine from TX to Moab and back in Drive.

Well I hope to have a full update on my 100 today. Had a key mix up so I overnighted another key with the remote so the shop can check compression in that cylinder. Hoping for the best then set up transport of the truck.

Hoping for good news Bomar......some bad vibes in here right now.....stinks.

About to go in for my 90k (10k miles too late) maintenance, and want to do as much as possible without going overboard. I plan on driving the truck until it dies, so I want to make sure I maintain it at an above average clip.

With that in mind, plan for this round is:

AT A MINIMUM
Timing Belt
Water Pump
Thermostat and coolant flush

LEANING ALSO TOWARDS
Serpentine Belt and Tensioner
Tensioner Pulleys
Idler Pulleys
Fuel Filter

OTHER OPTIONS
Camshaft Seals
Crankshaft Seals
Power Steering Flush
Brake Flush
Spark Plugs
O2 Sensors

Any thoughts on any of the above? I know a couple of you guys have recently done the 90k, interested to know exactly what you had done.

Why fix camshaft, crankshaft seals, o2 sensor till they fail? They are not maintenance items. The flushing of fluids, I am not the biggest fan.

Thanks Chris, and I agree on the seals and fluid flushes, just had seen others include them.

Have Jacque checking on all of the above for me.

Labor quote for all the above from my local dealership:

$776 for belts, thermostat, idlers, pulleys, etc

$100 for fuel filter

$100 for spark plugs

UGH

did my 90k at 150k. Did timing belt, water pump, coolant, and serpentine belt. Labor was $330.

That's pretty close to what they quoted me for just those items. Service manager said changing the three idlers and two pulleys added significant time.

I'm gonna check with another dealer and an Indy shop as well.

of all those things don't touch 02 sensors....they take 5 minutes unless you have rust and can easily be done with
1. code reader for which of the 4
2. I think a 10mm (at a really awkward position)
3. a beer

I read alot when I threw a code for left bank sensor.....some trucks go 200k and some go50k before needing one.

I'd look at parts from Sam at Lowe Toyota. Yeah shop won't insure them but it's OEM parts.....

Shush why are you getting out of the truck?

being reassigned to a new position soon that will either require alot of travel or commuting an hour to another armory.

I hate to sell it, but we don't have the funds for a gas saver and the 100.

If this new job works out I will probably look for another one or a 40 in a year or so but for now we need the fuel mileage more than what I WANT to drive. I tried to convince myself to keep it but after working the fuel for a year on 30 mpg verse 13 it was painfully obvious.

If ya'll know of anyone point them towards the ad. It SHOULD have everything answered but if not pm or email me.

I struggled with price as they are all over the place and in various forms of factory to heavily modded with TB done or not so I'll let it sit a week and then test the craigslist cespool.

hope your rig is good to go soon.

I hate it b/c I don't have freed up cash to buy it or I would. I can't sell my 62 too attached.

Hell I emailed Summit Transportation and they are picking up my truck tomorrow and I will have it Fri or Sat. Now I can still break down the 62 and put diffs in. I am super duper happy.
