After 110,000 miles of semi-reliable service, my AHC system on the 100 is beginning to die a slow death.

I've already replaced two sensors at a cost of around $500 for parts only, and have bled and changed the fluid. Now it seems that my front drivers accumulator or shock is flattening out, and there is no way I'm replacing it.

Thinking i'm going to take it to ACC in Atlanta and let them pull out all the AHC stuff, then install a 2" IronMan.

Shush I read your writeup, which system did you get? Wasn't it the performance with the foam cell shocks, below?

And that's a pretty good price, right?
Other than having to fork out some decent cash, I'm guessing you're not too sad about having to make that change.

The AHC on 100s is pretty novel, but all things being equal, I'd still rather have an "analog" suspension on my LX.

^ yes good price. I LOVE the lift (ride height, cushion, etc.) I strongly recommend it. Plus Eli (North American sales manager) was great. I bought the down graded shocks and one was busted when they arrived so he sent foam cells. they work great!

wish I was closer and you could drive mine.

Thanks. From what I'm reading the foam cells are just a heavier duty version of the gas shocks, made for higher temps, etc. Ride is the same. Was that your impression?

This is going to be second on my list in getting the 100 ready for Ouray in Aug. First is the overdue 90k service. After the suspension will be rear bumper and a few other goodies...

The IronMan you have appears to be solid with a front and rear bumper setup...couple guys in the main 100 section are running it.

they are heavier duty and the rebound rate is much quicker due to the closed system. so far I see no down side to them.

I have seen the post on heavy front and rear bumpers. obviously I don't run them but additional weight inside my rear has been handled VERY well IMHO.

I vote pull the trigger, the lift is solid.

Does the system have to be removed or can it be deactivated by pulling a fuse and capping off the hydraulics?

It doesn't HAVE to be removed i guess. I could just leave it all in the truck...I guess at that point it just boils down to draining the fluid and capping all the lines? From what I have read though all that stuff weighs over 100lbs?

Several people have removed the fuse and left it in the truck. Supposedly there is a trick that ACC knows about that disables all the dash lights as well.

I guess if I don't remove it I could do the swap myself. The only part of that I don't have experience with is the TBar swap...

It's all easy to do.

I did it.

Shush did it.

Spivey did it.

By FAR the weakest mechanical roster in Cottonland.

100# ain't nothing.

Shush hired his out tho right? :)

Might get the 40 driving before I do this just in case I wind up with a disabled truck on jack stands...

Yes. Rob did mine. Its all basic tools. TBs are only hard part and there is a lot on them on mud. Search for "gunney" in 100 forum. He had great pics, write ups, and diagrams on how it works.
