I love the fact that a year ago Andy wanted an old british sports car and now has 3 awesome toyotas.....

why doesn't my influence work on my wife?

The new truck is due the 90000 mile service so I made them give me a voucher to do it at their cost. They said it would be $1300 instead of $2000. Does that sound decent? What else besides the timing belt is due at 90000 miles?

Graves & Stoddard did my timing belt, water pump, serpentine belt, etc. for $700 total. All the recommended 90k stuff is listed in a sticky in the 100 thread, but general consensus is that you don't need to do it until at least 120k. I did mine at 150k.

I did my 90k check at 140k.

Congrats!! I had my truck baselined for 962 which included the tb and wp and all the fluids.

Andy, that's a GREAT looking truck! As for the 90K service, when you're checking prices, you might want to check with Integrity in Richland. I've not used them, but many I know who have comment on how much they like them....... Just a suggestion (that, and get rid of the running boards that NO ONE uses! It'll take a visual 1,000 lbs. off the truck)

That's who does all my work. Always much cheaper than the dealer....They are booked out 3 weeks for just an oil change though....Make sure to plan ahead!

Thanks for the comments on the 100. I had my usual buyer's remorse, but it goes away when I drive it.

I called Gray Daniels Toyota to get an equivalent dealership all OEM parts 90k service and he said $779. I don't know what Herrin Gear was trying to include for $1300 but I'm sure they were trying to appease me without really giving me a good price. I plan on talking to the service manager when I go back to pick up my headrests. They couldn't find the 2nd and 3rd row headrests after I signed the papers, so I made them order me 5 new ones. That must of ate into their profit a bit.

I do plan on taking the running boards off. I figured I would have it a few days before tearing stuff off.

For what it's worth: it's been my experience that the dealerships are the worst possible place to have any type of non-warranty work performed. Even if it cost more, if it were mine, I would still take it to a reputable independent mechanic.

I know this sounds contrary to what you'd think (after all, doesn't a Toyota dealership have factory-trained mechanics that only work on Toyota products?), but my experience says you're more likely to be dissatisfied with a dealership's work than an independent's.............just MY experience over the years. Others here may feel differently.

what say yall? I AGREE David. I always feel ripped off when I leave the dealership and most independent shops have that intangible family feel that I just tend to trust...right or wrong. (caveat being they can jip you if you aren't careful)

so...who hits toyota and if not who do you use? I use this guy ya'll might know...I think his name is Wilder?

excellent point
