Hey everyone,
I am finishing my freshman year of college so it's time I get a new ride and a 100 is just the thing for me. I'm looking at an 06 LC (prefer the LX but this ones a good deal) and had a few questions. Is the Slee AHC override compatible with an 06 LC with AHC? Would AHC be overloaded by the weight of ARB front/rear bumpers and a safari rack of some sort with the override? Has anyone tried the dice MediaBridge in a hundy with nav? Thanks in advance for the help guys!

Freshman year of college...shouldn't you be driving some hoop-dee beater?

The AHC could most likely handle all those things with an empty vehicle. However, once you load up the rig with people and gear you could be pushing the limits of AHC. To my knowledge the AHC will work within it's design specs up to about 1500 lbs of weight.

Front/rear bumpers, sliders roof rack, etc and that could take up 500-600 lbs.

There are a lot of college kids on this board with 100's. Most of them inherited them for free. Free gas, free insurance, free modifications. I inherited mine at the age of 16, bought it out right from my dad when I was 19. I did not want "daddies" ride, I wanted mine. To each his own I guess. Free stuff rocks!

Freshman in College and looking at a $30k truck + $5000 of extras? Wow.

Lots of difference between a 1998-2001 UZJ rolling with 150k+ miles ($8k-$14k truck) versus a 2006 ($27k-$38k).

As far as the AHC question - I have no idea. I didn't want AHC so I found one without.

In the mid 90's I wanted an FJ60 when I was in college. Even then an FJ60 was way to expensive for me. What's nice to see is that the majority of the college age LC owners I've seen on here really love their rigs and do not take them for granted.

Very nice choice in ride for a Freshman, right there in the same boat! (except, I've got a '99...with 180k miles, but hey, and Land Cruiser's a Land Cruiser)
Honestly, if you're already chucking out the cash to do those mods, why not go ahead and replace the AHC too? Maybe jump back a year to save a few grand and spend that on more mods?

Yeah, but the vvti of the 06 is really nice...

The sad part is that the Sequoia's, Tundra's AND 4runners all got this in 2005, however in the "flagship" 100 series, they had to wait until the following year. Very strange to say the least...

The 100 series is becoming very affordable to college folk. It is cheaper than a 40 and nearing the same cost of an 80. :D

The VVTi is nice, but the 5-speed makes more of a difference than the extra HP. (coming from someone who owned a 2000 4-spd and a 2007 VVTi 5-spd before the current 2004 5-spd.)

That's for sure! I was looking at 80's thinking *maybe* I could just even trade my 100 for an 80 with less than 100k miles....Ha! Not gonna happen anytime soon :meh:

Thanks guys for all the input. Right now I'm looking at an 06 in NY state and waiting on the dealer to send some undercarriage pics (living in the southeast I'd like to avoid cars from salty roads). As far as being a college student I realize that my parents are paying for the truck, so say what you will, but my academic scholarships have paid for all 4 years of college, which they were going to pay for. Also as to the AHC question, Charleston, SC isn't the most lift friendly place to be with almost all parking being in low garages so ahc would allow me to retain the ability to park in my current spot worry free. Nevertheless, I appreciate the input and now begins the search for more hundy's. I like the LC but I'd rather an LX, but for me of its not 05 or newer I'm probably going to skip it over. Let's hope I can find the right one at a good price so I can start with arb bumpers, gobi rack, slee AHC module, 33" BFG's, hid's, and sliders (missing any good mods?)
