Hi all, seller here. I was just alerted to this thread and thought I'd chime in. Long time lurker, occasional poster!
mcgaskins, I appreciate your questions/concerns/and vetting. If you'd like to come check out my Land Cruiser for a prospective to see its condition, you're more than welcome. I'll even buy you a beer.
Just wanted to address a few things brought up:
- $25,000 asking price (negotiable, of course). That's based on Cars.com/Auto Trader listings. Anything under $25,000 listed currently is from a rust belt state (we all know how these rust...), has been in an accident, has higher miles, etc. You get what you pay for with these. Always amazes me how poorly some people maintain their cars. Ask me how I know (3rd gen 4Runner Sport I bought sight unseen from PA. Whoops!)
- I'm not flipping for a profit. I'm not a broker. I've wanted a Hundy since, oh, 1998, and finally fulfilled my dream of owning one. I spent about two years looking on and off for one and never came across one that didn't have a fishy story to tell. I just wish I had more free time to actually drive it. As it is, I'm in the midst of a home remodel and, frankly, the cash would be nice. I've driven it off of the pavement twice since buying it about 1.5 years ago and it just pains me to see it being used as a grocery getter.
- Hail. There are three dings on the hood. This afternoon, I got a body shop quote for $150. I'll either have them do it or I'll take that off of the selling price. Aside from the bumper scrapes pictured, there is no other damage. It has never been wrecked, either.
Basically, it's a turn-key 100. Everyone talks about baselining their new 100s... there's nothing left to do here unless you want to start modding it!
