Hello all,
First post and have not been lurking too long. Have been toying with the idea of getting a LC as a daily/toy. I have been all over the internet(local) as well as FB marketplace and the prices on these are all over the place. Mileage all over the place not necessarily coinciding with the prices. Which brings me to my possible purchase….
2000 LC 1 owner(well the guy I’m buying it from is technically the second but hasn’t had it long and hasn’t had it registered yet, moving out of country). This guy lives in the neighborhood and has multiple Toyotas that he has fixed up and then sold that all have seemed pretty great. I’ve been eyeing this one awhile and now it popped up for sale.
It has 367k miles which to me sounds like way too many but I’ve been all over reading that these LCs can last forever if treated right. He doesn’t have specific records of things being done(ie timing belt etc) the carfax is clean, and has multiple records done at only Toyota but they seem a little sporadic so I’m not in love with the record keeping. It looks great! No rust(Texas vehicle only). Owner says it drives great(haven’t driven it yet).
Issues:
-unsure of timing belt replacement
-Sunroof not functioning(assuming I would have to just seal it up, or so I’ve read).
-Stock radio is sporadic(assume I could just go aftermarket and it will be ok.
-Sluggish windows rolling down
-Owner states that the front end makes a grinding noise unless the lock lee button is pressed then it runs fine(I am assuming this is the c clamp and flanges and cv axle needing replaced from research on here).
Pros:
New windshield, fog lights, turn signal lights, new tires, new alternator, new battery, power steering flush and change, fresh oil change, no cracks in any windows, has 3rd row seats, paint in great shape!
My main question is this worth it at this mileage with this sporadic history and with these issues?
I’ll try and link the fb post on here. But he’s asking $9k

Thanks for any help or answers! I’m very new to this forum and this world but trying to learn more and more everyday!
