Revisiting this thread as I tear apart my rear cargo area this weekend looking for a rattle/vibration that has been driving me crazy. Turns out that the factory CLD on the passenger rear quarter panel failed and was in a heap, and occasionally would find just the right position to vibrate on the un-deadened sheet metal. Should have it buttoned up again tomorrow after new CLD, Fibermat, and Thinsulite where I can fit it. [ edit - turns out that was not the only noise! Still tracking down another… ]

If anyone is looking for a perfect condition stock subwoofer, I just pulled mine. It’s the one with two 4” speakers, was working fine I’m just putting in a separate sub.

My brother Al had a crazy system in his 99 LX. Image dynamics piezo horns under the dash, Faital pro mid bass in the doors (8” I think!) and also a pair in custom fiberglass kicks, false floor with two IDQ 15s. Craziest thing I’ve ever heard SQL.. so much headroom.
I think he was or is on diyma.

That’ the thing with making it quieter, and solving “the g’damn noise”… you will now just hear the next loudest noise… on and on… but the end results are so much better than where you started.

Say, does anyone need nice firewall grommets? I bought 2... but didn't see it was a 5-count per bag... so now I have 10! Okay, I used 2, so I have 8. For 0/1 gauge, black. They seem nice, tighten down to waterproof seal. Just pay shipping and I'll send them.

Took waaaay longer than intended, but got these tweeter pods in. I think I started on these poses with rings @Berkut10r printed for me in like March/ April. Still more system to install. Here’s the rest of the work-in-progresss…

Sometimes in projects you fail to see the cumulative effects of small decisions until they add up to something. I realized Saturday that my earlier decisions made it so my rear seats won’t fit back in, if I finished the build as is!

First, I bought previously owned but unused amps of the brand I wanted, but of higher wattage for less over on DIYMA… great ! But realized after receiving they each are.1.5” bigger. That 3” made me too long to fit behind 2nd row seatbelts and where the rear curves back in by liftgate… so I had to pull them out toward the center to get more room. Then my amp rack got deeper, as I wanted it hinged to get to all wiring behind. Finally, I used spacers to run wires under amp and keep hidden. Total? Blocks seats!

Last night I had to pull most of the wiring out to plan a new build. Looks like I willl be using under seat area, which had intentionally left empty. Real pain is I used the Resonix cut-to-length rca cables…. which were easy to use and quality… we’ll have to see if I can repurpose wires or if I am screwed. I think it will still workout. Fingers crossed.

I know many of you have been here (but maybe not as many hours invested before you saw the problem) in projects… audio or mechanical… little decisions are still decisions that can impact the whole, make them carefully!

Bummer! But that’s going to be a sweet setup.

Which under seat area are you referring to? I’m looking for solid measurements of the space under the passenger seat, if you took any images while everything was pulled.

I might have front seats out tomorrow, but there is a good deal of space there. How big is the thing you want to fit? Are you concerned about about height or L/W?

Both - for ventilation and wire management. I haven’t laid out my amp rack yet, but will be installing a Mosconi One 6|10 under the passenger seat. Dimensions are 12x8.25x2.25”, and wires come out of the short sides. It seems like it may be snug getting everything in, and i dont want to worry about damaging things if the seat moves.

I am also tracking that there is a stock ground point under the passenger seat, but haven’t seen this with pics and don’t have time to be taking my seat in and out frequently. Same with amp rack attachment points - I’m not sure where my best attachment points are yet, but I’m guessing it’s the stock amp locations. As I type this, I really do need to just get in there twice and be done with it ;)

@dubdub20003did those tweet pillar mounts come from berkut10r? and link to battery posts please.
I have twin batteries, sets of these would look way better than what I got.

audio wise.
OMG wtf happened to JL, Garmin???? I didn't know this until this morning, what's next audio control?

Oh, I wish… no, he just printed the ring I needed at the right size to frame out everything else. Needed something to hold the tweeter shape.

Company for the battery terminals was Overland Provision - https://overlandprovision.com/. They were not cheap, but after the soft lead on another cheaper terminal stopped holding the bolt tight, went back to the buy once, cry once.
