Ok so I've ordered Roger Browns 1.5" lift. I'm looking for things I need to look out for when I do the lift. So here's a list of questions:
1. How did you move your radiator? Pics would be awesome
2. What about the hard brake lines? From what I can tell they are attached to body, frame, and motor. I'm afraid to lift the body and bust a line.
3. With just 1.5" I'm not really worried about shifting or steering linkages. Should I be?
My grandson and I did a 2.5" on our project '92 fj80. We bought a 3" kit from four crawler and cut it down. It went smooth except I neglected to loosen the cat convertor harnesses and one of the cables pulled from the connector. I just had the rear exhaust routed over the frame and we are super happy with it. With 4" springs in front and 2 inch in rear, with 3.5 degree castor correction bushings, it dirves perfect. L.B.
What do you guys think about this setup: 1" body lift, 2.5" OME heavy duty lift, 315/75/16 tires.
I know some guys run 315/75/16 on just the 2.5" kit, but I want to make sure that I don't have any stuffing\rubbing issues. I really don't want to run a 4" kit primarily because of cost, but a body lift seems like an effective way to make plenty of room for those 315's. I don't plan on rock crawling, but I want to make sure I don't end up with clearance issues. It needs to be polite on the roads and capable on the trail.
I'm swapping bodies and frames between two 80 series that I have so the bodies will be off the frame anyway. Seems like a good time to do it if I'm going to do it.
